For comparison, UAB had 550 yards on an awful Savannah State team (we got 600 yards against SSU in 2016 and knew we were in trouble in the first game). ULM needs to trust Gore and White more, especially in the red zone, and they'll be fine. In fact, I'll go a step further and say the offense is scary.

Now if I were a ULM fan I'd definitely be worried about the defense. I think they can beat USM, but it'll be a shootout.

i dont think some are being overly dramatic, i think its more of over inflated exceptions coming down a bit. ULM was given a lot of praise and expectation this off season, and game 1 did not live up to those expectations. but i dont think anything has really changed. ULM still has a chance to finish with 5,6,or 7 wins this season. good offense, bad defense. oh i still expect them to win vs USM next week.

Until we show something more I think we are a 6 win team. Beat USM next week and I think we are a 7 win team.

Right now you’re a 1 win team, beat USM next week you will be a 2 win team.

Way to go ULM. It's great to be 1-0 no matter who you beat.

I knew it would go down to the wire. I find it amazing that people were jumping on the blowout bandwagon. There isn't much difference in the upper half of the Southland and most Sun Belt programs.

I disagree. At the beginning of the season, a FCS can match up reasonably well with a FBS, but overall, the depth causes issues. Since 2013, SBC is 10-2 vs the Southland.

I hope you are right that we are a two win team next weekend.

Never said there wasn't a depth advantage, or any advantage for that matter. I said there's not much difference between the "upper half" of the Southland and "most" Sun Belt programs, and I stand by that. The head to head conference vs conference record may be 10-2 since '13 but how many were blowouts or comfortable wins, and of those games, how many were against the better SLC teams? Not many, if any.

RE: ULM vs SE Louisiana Game Thread
Come in man let’s be real. ULM played like a dang junior high team when they were inside the 35. If y’all score a TD on half the drives that ended up inside the 35 y’all win by 3 TDs. It was a poor showing of red zone offense by ULM and a terrible showing by the defense.

Same with the Cajuns last year against SLU. We had arguably the worst defense in the history of FBS football.

You’re right about that. We’re lucky we got the W. If we could make kick we’d been in better shape. I don’t know what’s happening with that. We have a true freshman who is doing kick offs now . Maybe he’ll get a shot.

You learn a lot more about your team after a close win. A lot better than a blow out win. Yeah, your ego takes a hit but in the long run, ULM will be better for taking it on the chin and still coming out a head. I think that Offense will figure out the red zone and will be good enough to win some SBC games.

Yeah, good to expose problems now.

And who knows? Maybe SELA will be a pretty good SLC team? I think they're probably about 6-5 but no way to know for sure. They've had some good teams before.

They’ll compete for SLC title IMO if their coach doesn’t screw them. They have players and a All American Wr/KR. Their LT started at UGA.

Unfortunately, ULM has bigger problems than their offense.

They announced 10K for attendance, but it wasn't nearly that many. On opening night. Against an in-state school.

And, I don't wanna hear about "it was on a Thursday."

I don't know how this program is going to sustain.

Why don’t you worry about your own problems. You guys hate we are picked above you. Talk your trash after you beat us.

How many did the Cajuns have against ULM in 2017?
Didn’t look like much.

Let’s be real man, it was a pathetic showing from an apathetic fan base. Plus we have beat y’all 7 of 8 or 8 of 9 something like that.

It’s going to be very hard to find any sustained success when we can poach any coach you guys have. It’s ok lil bro, things will be better in the SLC.

Arrowhead we have had many conversations in the past and you should know by now I'm not a trash talker.

I have a few friends here locally that are from Monroe, give to ULM and know donors. They say the same things I just said.

Because here in Louisiana we can't charge our students a fee to help cover athletics, we have a big disadvantage compared to other universities.

The support issue at ULM has been there for some time now. I honestly believed with the anticipation of a good year in Monroe and playing Southeastern to open, that it would mean a decent crowd. I saw the picture Hunsucker tweeted.

If you think, that's trash talking, fine. But if ULM is going to survive, it has to start generating money through tickets sold unless you are going to go back to playing the schedules Todd Berry was saddled with. And, I know that isn't the plan.
