I predict losses to USM, La Tech, UNT, MTSU, and A&M.
The hype comes from their success last season in their first year back plus the players they have returning. UAB, UNT, and La Tech appear to be the top three teams in the West with, imo, USM right behind them. I can see any of these four teams winning the West.
I have a very tough time seeing UAB losing all of these games unless they have a slew of injuries or some dumb luck.
I understand the returning players argument, but I don't buy the 2017 success.
Of their 6 FBS wins, all but UTEP and Southern Miss were less than a touchdown margin. 2 wins were within a field goal. This wouldn't be that bad in and of itself, but throw in losses to Charlotte and total drubbings by Ball State (1-7 in the MAC) and Ohio, and I just am not impressed.
When you just look at the scores, sure, I can understand why you’d think that. Coastal and UTSA scored TDs with a minute left or so left in the game to make it a one score game. The only true last second wins we had were Tech and MT. USM and UTSA were good games, but we had it under control towards the end of those games.
All that's fair.
I still think you guys win 7 games in the regular season, but I have been seeing a lot posts expecting Clark to run roughshod over the west.
I just think he's got another year to go before that all pans out.

RE: Schedule Breakdown: UAB
W- Savannah State (FCS win)
W- @Coastal Carolina (win)
W- Tulane (hard fought win)
W- Charlotte (win)
T- @LA Tech (Toss up)
W- @ Rice (win)
W- North Texas (win)
W- @UTEP (Win)
W- UTSA (Win)
T Southern Miss (good rivalry...close win)
L- @Texas A&M (dont care, does not count towards conference title)
T- @MTSU (Toss up playing at MTSU)
I see us being bowl eligible.
Minimum of 8 wins. Possible shot at conference title if our competition beats up on each other and we win the conference games we're suppose to win

Anyone saying we’re going to run through the West is wearing heavily green tinted glasses. If we beat 3 out of the 4 other contenders in the West again, I’d be thrilled. La Tech, USM, UTSA, and NT are all damn good teams.

RE: Schedule Breakdown: UAB
If UAB wins the division and especially CUSA Clark will be a Red Raider in 2019.

Yes, and the same one that drummed Southern out of their own stadium.

RE: Schedule Breakdown: UAB
I can see UAB hittin on all cylinders and getting to 10-2. They are not likely to take down Texas A&M and I hope they don't smack MT. Jeez. Is AJ Erdely still the QB? If so, that kid can have some big moments for the Blazers.

8-4 (5-3 CUSA)
This schedule is absurdly easy. There are no less than 6 "automatic" wins on this schedule when you consider the 3 weak OOC gimme's; FCS Savannah (3-10, a year ago), Sunbelt's Coastal (3-9) & Tulane (5-7). Throw in CUSA's 3 weakest teams from a year ago, Charlotte (1-11), Rice (1-11) and UTEP (0-12), and you're left with 6 teams sporting a 13-60 W-L record, or a .178 winning percentage from just last season.
That's SIX (6) teams averaging less than 2 wins per season. That's unheard of. This simply HAS TO BE the easiest football schedule in America in 2018.
No kidding, the may be the weakest FBS football schedule in the entire history of college football.

While you are on the smack talk, remember Charlotte only won 1 game last year... against UAB.
RPI doesn't exist in football. In 5 years we'll look back at a bowl eligible team and won't complain about the ease of schedule. We aren't making a "playoff" anyway. We scheduled the teams that were available. Most teams schedule games 4-5 years ahead of schedule. La tech for example has 3/4 OOC games scheduled for 2023. We didn't want too many body bag games starting a program back up. It does nothing for our program to play more than 1 body bag game a season. I'd rather have the bowl eligibility to reward the players and take them to hawaii or the bahamas.
Also, Also, UAB did beat La tech and MTSU last year (by a combined 3 blocked/missed PAT's & FG's at home) and only lost to UNT by 3 because of a bad kickoff return in their favor) All that being said, I'll still take the over on 8-4.
