That’s how much more THE UNIVERSITY nets after increase knuckleheads.
No, that's how much more Kroger recoups. The university gets a flat amount regardless of how much Kroger charges.
Face it, the "$3 more per cheap seat" was flat out wrong.
Now 9 were 5= 4 increase less 1 to food bank =3.
So if the ticket price went from 5 to 75 and 70 went to the food bank there would be no change in price.
Surely I don’t need to teach remedial math here. Setting the food bank aside (which I like the idea of giving them dollars) how much would the UNIVERSITY net on $5 ticket or $75 ticket using your criteria?

According to you a flat amount regardless, but I only made a B in Calculus. Sorry professor.
I'm just trying to add up all the academic disciplines you step on in this thread.

I would not have responded but I’ve been called out, ridiculed etc about 6-7 times in this AND OTHER threads about Shooters math. It’s a very simple thing and posters want to critique me on this crap. Why are you making an issue of it?

You forgot to change usernames or are you now referring to yourself in 3rd person.

It should have been in parentheses Mr. English Class. Why put that mess on this forum? One of the huge problems we have. And I have ONE USER NAME. Asked for my original and it's so old, mods said they could find no record of it.

Actually, it should have been in quotation marks. Geez.

If you used to pay Kroger $5 for a ticket and the Food Bank got some of it, and now you pay Kroger $9.01 for a ticket and the Food Bank gets $1:
Part 1 - How much did your ticket price increase?
A - $4.01
B - $3
C - unknown
Part 2 - How much does the University net?
A - $1 million
B - $0.01
C - unknown

From my vantage point, I would argue that Tigers FB is about the only "major" sport in town that has been truly affordable to the bottom half of the area's population (economically speaking). For many families, $36 is quite expensive compared to $20.
I would also argue that getting to near capacity (say 54k+) is more important than the revenue. Most fan bases were built on the days when going to games were affordable. Over time, the popularity of the team and the loyalty of the fans allowed prices to go up.
If dude can't afford $36 for a family of four, wait until he sees the cost to park.
The university needs more revenue. They don't really need more fans who won't pay $9 for a football tix.
Bowen has clearly pointed out that we don't make money off parking or concessions. And the tv deal is fixed and under contract. So the best source we have for incremental revenue - to pay for coaches raises, expenses, improvements - is ticket sales.

People park far away in free spots all the time. Several attractions in Memphis have opportunities to go for free so that poorer families, which we have many, can experience cultural activities. I just think Memphis football should be one of those activities. And the stadium has plenty of room to accommodate them.
Too many folks turn their noses at having poor people around.

All of the 9.01 tickets will sell, the huge increase in price to 1.01 more than high school game will keep zero fans away. Find something else to biatch about.
Would you rather a family go support a high school team or the University of Memphis?
For many families, one dollar matters. And these are people who are not living on welfare (which, in many states, is not as much as folks think).
It is famously said that many folks with plenty of money will drive an extra mile to save 10 cents on gas so a dollar might mean something to them also.
University of Memphis Basketball support was not built on the backs of rich people. Funny thing, it is now but many people have commented that it is hindering the future growth of it compared to the Grizzlies.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. You either don't know any poor people or just don't know any people. According to your post, a poor, but not on welfare, family of 4 wants to go see a football game. They aren't fans of any team, just really want to spend the night out together sitting on bleachers watching kids play football. They have been waiting all year for this and were really hoping that UofM was going to have $5 tickets. When the university announced $9.01 tickets they changed their minds and went to watch Central play at Crump. Never happens.
And, The Grizzlies (only available to "rich" people) is gaining ground because it is perceived that rich people involved in the University are "hindering" our future growth?

I'd you can't afford 9.01 for a ticket then you need to get. Second job to feed your family. I know many people that are hiring I'll tell them Mark is applying, text me your last name and I'll send you a few addresses and phone mumbers

Since you are Blessed; why don't you buy tickets for people less fortunate than you? I know some of us on the board have bought tickets for Youth Villages Kids to attend Tiger Football Games. This would be a great opportunity for you to support these individuals since you are so concerned.
I just went to the Olive Branch Kroger's on Goodman Road and tried to purchase some tickets. No one there knew anything about it including the manager and the person that customer service. And yes, that Kroger's is listed as one of the one selling Memphis football tickets.[/i]

Of course he won't. Smells of a Bernie Sanders supporter. Wants everything given to poorer people for free, BUT, (the big catch 22) he wants YOU to pay for it!
