Same in DoD when I was at the Pentagon 40 years ago. For one thing, it's a Situation Room. That means if something happens, you need the key players there ASAP. You don't have time to line them up and run them through airport security.
There should also be a security protocol to enter the building, before you get to the Situation Room. Obviously there are things you can bring into the building that you shouldn't bring to the situation room. That's what the honor system is about. It's not like people are wandering in off the street.
Plus by the time you get to the station of having access, you are expected to know better. This is a problem I've mentioned before with respect to political types who may not have been through the DoD information security orientation process.

There is a new tape this morning where Trump talks to her a day after Kelly fired her, and he claims he didn't know about it (and then he curses - *** **** it). I'd say he's lying on that tape but perhaps he just gave Kelly ultimate authority because otherwise why would he bother talking to her the next day? In either scenario, it's pretty sad yet the Trumpbots here will stick up for him with some warped logic.

It's sad that Kelly would fire the most senior black member of his administration (I'm talking about the WH staff and not the Cabinet) without Trump's knowledge or approval. Or it's sad that he knew of the firing but lies about it the next day over the phone.
This was all so predictable too. The only worse hire he could have made from his Apprentice TV show connections would have been to hire Dennis Rodman or Gary Busey.

What's clear about Omarosa, the only unhinged black woman in Washington DC that is more anti-Trump is Maxine Waters. We can at least give Waters the benefit of the doubt an say she has Alzheimer's.

What I can confirm is the following:
On December 12, 2017, at approximately 11:30PM (EST) – a date I now know to be the evening Omarosa was relieved of her official duties by General Kelly - I received a telephone call from her informing me that she had personally heard a second-hand recording of President Trump using the “N-word” in a derogatory fashion.
She proceeded to tell me the full name of the individual who played this second-hand tape for her, from whom the primary audio tape had originated, as well as the specific context of the President’s usage of this term and to whom the derogatory term was allegedly directed.
Omarosa also proceeded to inform me that she had officially submitted her resignation to General Kelly and that I should promptly do the same before the audio surfaced.
The next morning, I immediately notified senior communications officials and a Trump family member of the same, only to discover the true nature of her departure was termination.
Today, the individual who Omarosa confirmed to me as having played the second-hand audio recording to her last year confirmed that they have no tape, never had possession of a tape, never claimed to have possession of a tape and never played such a tape for Ms. Manigault-Newman...."
