That means we can get it over the web and on the app, right? Without paying extra for that new ESPN + stuff? I don't see it listed as an upcoming game on the app. Also not shown on the ESPN3 schedule:

Curt mentioned this today at the Fan and Press Luncheon as a possibility - said they would share more info as it became available. Sounds likely, just waiting on solid info. ESPN3 would be awesome!

What would be funny is if there are more JMU fans in Norfolk Saturday night in a college FB stadium than ODU fans in Norfolk Saturday in a college FB stadium (pssst...they host FIU).
Just sayin'.

I dislike everything about this game. Rest everyone you can as much as you can and get out of there as soon as possible, healthy, and with a W.

Did anyone else pick up on HCMH's response to question about what benefit playing this game in Norfolk presents?
I believe his response went along the lines of....
"I don't know, I wasn't here when this game was scheduled"
Had me laughing pretty hard.

Yeah I caught that. Got a good chuckle over it. Think most JMU fans would agree with him.
Heads up for fans heading to the game. Review the Fan Guide at the following link:
https://nsuspartans.com/sports/2011/5/26...15937.aspx
Pay particular attention to the list of prohibited items. No bags and no stadium seats are allowed according to what I read.
Bummer cause I really need my stadium seat for back support due to the messed up disc I have.
Go Dukes!!

I'm hoping the pitching rotation at QB Saturday night is... Ben D to start and play 1st half, Cole plays 3Q, and Gage plays 4Q. We first have to come out of the locker room and take care of business like we should of course. Would love to see Gage with some game action. Been waiting to see him against someone else.

Most stadia I’ve been to will make exceptions for medical/health reasons. Usually it involves contacting the ticket office in advance and perhaps printing a specific letter and going to a specific gate. I don’t know how NSU handles those things but it’s probably worth giving them a call.

2nd road game in a row after a big game.
Would not expect to see the best of the Dukes in this one.
We beat them by 61 (75-14) last year. NSU's 2 TD's were via fumble recovery return and a KO return. IOW, our D didn't give up any pts.
The question is has NSU improved enough - or, have we dropped? - to close that margin by 20+ pts to get under the spread? I guess we'll see. I don't think the Dukes will lack motivation. Losing 2 in a row and a bad taste from a game our guys probably (or should) believe we let get away last week in Raleigh should be motivation enough.
A little early in the week for a prediction and will await the weekly prediction thread, but I expect HCMH and staff will have the guys' ears pinned back and they'll give great effort and win very big. Some starting positions are still up for grabs so I expect a lot of personal motivation to perform well.
I love Mike Houston. If you listened to the press conference you'd think NSU was going to be a bigger challenge than NC State. Their big offensive line can wear us down.
He reminds me of a little tougher Joe Gibbs. He sees the strengths that each opponent has to challenge us. That's one of the many things that make him a great coach.

RE: Game 2 at Norfolk State
A couple of updates for the Norfolk State game...
1- the ticket package indicates on-campus construction has eliminated many parking spaces and fans are encouraged to ride the light rail.
2- the official Duke Club tailgate has changed it’s hours. It was originally 1 - 5 PM but has been changed to 3 - 5 PM. Same location at Waterside downtown which is a short 2 mile ride to the stadium on the light rail.
Norfolk State had 15,000 fans against D 2 Virginia State last week, but I will be surprised if they get 10,000 for this game. The Labor Day classic is a bigger deal in the community than a game against the #2 team in FCS.

How fast does parking at NSU games fill up typically? If we're not arriving until about 1-1.5 hours before kickoff, will the cash lots be full?
Parking on campus is free but to be honest, catch the tide. There is a church on the other side of campus, Shiloh, thats charges $5 to park but its small.

Going from home to away is about -7. So a 13 point closure could be reasonable.

I'm probably not going to make the game, but I usually bring a JMU stadium cushion. I've never seen them not be allowed. I can't think of an explanation for that. Maybe NSU wants people's asses to be sore.

Without knowing, my guess is they mean the ones that are big and have built in armrest. They take up more than a designated seat. My brother-in-law brought one to a game at BFS and had to leave it at the gate. There were a pile of them sitting there and his was still there after the game.

Yeah, you wouldn't want the 8,300 people (NSU's avg attendance last year) taking up a couple inches more than the designated space in their 30,000 seat stadium.

That had me rolling. One of the most honest answers I've seen a coach give. He uses his coach speak to give a ton of credit to NSU and say it's going to be a tough game that'll be close, but when asked about actually playing AT NSU he unloads. Love it. Pretty obvious that we will not schedule a game like this again.

I agree - but one thing that sticks out in my memory from previous two seasons under HCMH is that he is very slow/reluctant/stubborn to pull starters, even when up by 30, 40, 50 pts. I don't know if it's a sign of respect or what the rationale is. I recall a couple games over the past 31 games with Mike at the helm that I was begging to pull the starters and put them on ice for the following week. I have very few complaints with HCMH, but this one always sticks out.
I hope given his clear disdain for this week's road game, he's much quicker to pull starters or better yet, maybe not even start them - if Nooch's hammie is even the slightest bit still sore from cramping last week, just give cojo the start and get out of norfolk without any dings and with a W.

Understood.
Last year against NSU, we led 44-7 at the half. NSU took the 2nd half KO and had a quick 1' drive before giving it back to us via fumble. We scored with 5 plays on the ground to make it 51-7. After NSU's next possession, HCMH inserted Cole in our next possession at the 9:22 mark of the 3Q.
The week before in our 52-10 win over ETSU, to your point, he still had Schor in the game in the 4Q up 45-10. He led a TD drive to up the lead to 52-10, which was our last offensive possession of the game and no backup QB got any time (somewhat surprisingly).
Maybe HCMH has a threshold where we must get over the 50 pt mark before he inserts a backup QB. (j/k)

That response was classic and you could tell Houston did not like having to play NSU on the road. I don't think we will be playing teams on the road that we should not as long as Coach Houston is involved in scheduling.
