Maybe i just havent been paying enough attention to NBC when flipping through channels but it seems like the week's Notre Dame game was the only game of the day on the main station and then NBC Sports aired like 1 FBS game all last year.

Have they announced they are going all in now on college football?

For the record, im genuinely curious. Im not an AAC hater as I went to UCF before transferring to UNT. Im still a closet Golden Knight.

The current deal we have was originally offered by NBC and matched by ESPN. The Navy Notre Dame game has real value for them (it's worth 2.5 million as a ND home game) Currently they appear to have made space indicating they will be bidding. A game a week OTA to match with ND and stand alone when ND doesn't have a home game and our championship game would give them a solid product to sell for advertisers. I could see them pick up some filler inventory for NBC sports as well.

LOL. I have several Zims from my trip there in 2007. Literally not worth the paper it is printed on.

4 to 6 would amaze, but not surprise.

4 to 6 wouldn't amaze anybody here.

I'd be semi-amazed at 6. I expect that we'll get 4, with a lock-tight clause that it's all void if anyone leaves the conference.

If Aresco brings a 6 mil a year contract to the presidents to sign, he should be fired. If the Presidents sign it, they should be fired as well. 05-mafia

Well, there's always Youtube for ad-click revenue. Each school will get an 11 dollar direct deposit each quarter.

We can only get so much for filler tv time, its not Aresco's fault if espn doesn't want to pay 8-10 mil per for what they consider filler tv time.

the man can only do so much

P6 type pay is double digits. He talked the game, now it's time to back it up, so it is his fault if he doesn't deliver it. Our conference has proven we're well worth the pay bump.

well yeah, i agree, but espn doesn't consider us prime time, they view is a filler tv time and I dont think we are not going 10 mil per more for filler tv time. Do we deserve it yes, but that doesn't mean we are going to get it.

This. I think most here would have been disappointed but ultimately OK with the $6 to $8 Mil range. He simply shouldn't have opened his mouth regarding "P5 money" (which to me is $10 Mil +) if he can't deliver. We shall see.

He's talking a big game trying to drum up interest. The fact of the matter is that we ARE filler time to ESPN, at least during prime college football timeslots. I don't think that there will be a situation where we're regulars on ESPN or ESPN2 on Saturdays. There are only so many channels, and the other P6 currently have those locked down.

I wish we were in a situation where they were willing to retire a high-priced deal with another conference, get us for 10m, put us on ESPN on Saturdays at Noon and 3:30, and build some value from their investment, but that's just not happening.

I do agree that we're worth more than our current deal. I also think that there could be competition to get us at higher than our current rate. I don't, however, think that if ESPN offers us 6m per team, that NBC, CBS, or one of the internet companies is going to swoop in and offer us more. Just a hunch. Hope I'm wrong.

The ceiling is the roof. 20mil per and a showcase game every week on ABC on Monday night.

Why is it that people that want to downplay our contract amounts always state that we're "only filler" to ESPN and that we'll never get decent $$ because ESPN doesn't have the money slots available for us, but always seem to overlook the fact that everyone predicting 8+mil are expecting the money to come from network operators and sources that will have the windows and timeslots available

I think that you have come to the pivotal glass half empty v glass half full factor. People will believe what they want. I like Big Houston analysis. He analogizes network ratings and money of other sports to capture our value. This makes sense to me. The filler argument has no merit since the circumstances are not static. Espn can always change their schedule around.

Or big bad ESPN may have a plan that low balls the AAC --- kills the existing Big 12 after the expiration of their GoR --- and recreates that conference as the new tweeter with the moving over of a few AAC schools. The new order being a P4 with only 4 big contracts, the new Big 12 with a tweeter conteact, and the remainder 2 million a school in the G5.
