Any propaganda is being driven by the communities these public schools reside in and not the education system reformulating the political views of the communities. IMHO, the more concerted effort to adjust political viewpoints occurs on college campuses. Even there, I think it's more limited to the lower value degrees anyways. It's a lot easier to politicize courses linked to the various "_________ Studies" majors, communications and sociology/psychology. IMHO, it's much harder to politicize STEM programs. It can surely be done, but I think it is pretty hard to politicize actual science and math topics. There is no politics in an eigenvector or a laplace transform.

We can discuss which came first, but keep in mind that education is a state function, not local community. The state education committee sets all education-related policies and procedures. If a local school is not maintaining a certain standard the state will take it over.

Local school boards have very little authority. They allocate the budget to the various departments but their curriculum is set by the state. The state often times has several texts to choose from, but the local district is bound by the state guidelines.

And with federal education reform programs such as No Child Left Behind (Bush) and Race to the Top (Obama) mandating policy in order to receive federal funds, the various states have granted control to the US Dept of Education, which, by the way, is grossly unconstitutional.

I live in a county in TN which is part of the Memphis metro area. It is a GOP county in a GOP state. Our state senator Delores Gresham was the chair of the state education committee, a very powerful position.

She couldn't hand over control fast enough to Obama/Arne Duncan for Race to the Top $$$$. Tennessee was one of the first states to sign on to Common Core.

Common Core traces its roots back to UNESCO. From the 2000 Dakar Framework for Action and before, to the 2030 Incheon Declaration and Framework for Action, the globalists have been pushing a global education plan to all member states. As of now, this process of teaching math and reading has been a failure.

But UNESCO goals include more than just education. It include various Social Justice philosophies as well.

The local school board and community have the least say in the content of the education process.

I understand that the states are responsible for education and that the Bush and Obama initiated programs blurred lines of who control education. However, those programs are still administered on the local level and the local school districts ultimately have to implement them. I've seen enough of the local schools and people who work in them to know that pushing a political agenda is highly dependent on where your district is located. I live in fly over country. My local school district plus the catholic schools don't push what I would consider a blatantly SJW style curriculum. Now there are a few teachers who lean that way and can put some of that into the curriculum; however, in most cases the kids tend to follow the politics of the family they belong to. We've had public school education for a very long time and this nation did not lurch hard towards progressivism for many decades. I won't argue that there are groups that are pushing the SJW/progressive causes and are trying to influence education at the elementary and high school levels.

My point is that the public education system was not originally designed to carry out the goals of Marx and Engels. But I do agree that in more recent times people are trying to make that happen. Ultimately, it's the quality of the family life that each child has that will determine whether the child becomes a sheep or becomes an independent thinker who strives to be self reliant. The local community is next in line of importance.

Just like politics is primarily local - so is education. Maybe not in the overall guidelines but definitely when it comes to implementation. There is a lot of gray when it comes to implementation. JMHO.

if it's broken basically beyond repair, why not design a system that funds 'feet on the godddammmed fk'n ground' where req'd'

I'm so sick of this stupid bs.......g'dam dipfks......

what the fk is wrong with people not understanding how we got here and symbiotic is a REAL FKN thingy............

it's just mind blowing how stupid people really fk'n are.........

Pump the brakes, stink. I'm only commenting on my opinion that indoctrination into progressive politics is not going on en mass in the public elementary, middle and high schools. I'm sure in some places it is and at others it's not. I'm not commenting on whether the education system needs revamped or if it needs to be reformed.

It happened with the advent of 24Hr news. Stations need to time to fill to sell advertising $$ so they just make up crazy stuff.

Luckily, the last election proved the MSM's influence is staring to diminish as folks are waking up to the lies.

I agree that education funding, no child left behind and race to the top all needs to be scrubbed and more power given to the states. I don't disagree with you on that.
