That would only work with a good SS though. Meadows and Angeli came on late with their bats as both are good fielders too. Weiss is a good hitter and very clutch...I'm hoping that he can carry this forward. Zayicek would be a nice powerful addition to Kep Brown to give the Hawks some power production. I like the team speed that they have. Getting Bridges going would be big as he's fast too.
Starting pitching getting more solid would help in the post season. Nation has:
Projected Rotation:
Friday: Gage Herring
Saturday: Zarion Sharpe
Sunday: Landen Roupp
Midweek: Blake Morgan, Nick Bruno
Bullpen:
Closer: Henry Ryan
Setup: Logan Beehler, Justin Walke
Middle Relief: Blake Deatherage, Levi Gesell, Luke Gesell, Chris Joyner.
That's not a bad situation, but can you get into and out of a Regional? It would seem to me that 2 of those 3 starters would have to take a nice step up and they can with work. Herring seems most ready to give 6 plus against quality at this time. Luke Gesell impressed me this year with his makeup and could potentially be a starter or a closer. Ryan looked very good too. Both guys have good stuff. Blake Morgan is nasty against lefties and showed some "it factor". I like that because he gives the staff a very different look with his deceptive southpaw delivery. Will Sharpe be ready to go next year after the injury? A freshman arm or 2 could really be the difference here-it was big this year. Heck, any one of those guys could be the next guy. The depth of the staff has really improved and needed to because it's about arms at the end of the day. Still, you do need to have at least 2 starters be able to log big innings with quality to be very good.
Scalf and staff have stepped up their recruiting lately late in the game so another few pieces may just come our way. Players GET drafted here at a high rate and that GETS noticed. They know what to do and the players/parents of players have to know that. That's why the talent level has been going up lately.
Looks like Beehler isn’t coming back. Seems like he was injured too often

Noah Liles is starting his first game for the Sharks tonight. He’ll play LF and bat second.

RE: Seahawk Baseball in 2019
Summer ball updates:
Noah Liles went 0-3 on Saturday night but did earn a pair of walks. This will be a crucial summer for him as he tries to earn his way into more playing time next season despite a crowded outfield.
Back on April 9, Jackson Meadows and catcher Zach Bridges were signed on to play with the Sharks as well, but they have not arrived just yet. Nick Bruno and Doug Angeli appear on the roster as well.
Also in the Coastal Plain League, Chris Joyner is on the Holly Springs Salamanders, and has made 3 appearances. He is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA, though he has struck out 6 and walked only 2 in 3.2 innings. Luke Gesell is expected to be on the High Point-Thomasville HiToms
Greg Jones will be playing for the Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod League this summer. That premiere league's season begins tomorrow, June 12. Henry Ryan will also be in the Cape Cod League, pitching for the Cotuit Kettleers.
In the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), 6-4 freshman righty Brody Lawson is pitching for the Upper Valley Nighthawks. He's made 1 appearance, setting down the final 3 Mystic Schooners' hitters 1-2-3, including 2 K's, to close out an 8-0 win.
In the Carolina-Virginia League, 6-2 sophomore righty Indiana Hall will be pitching for the Roanoke Rails. It looks like Hall pitched for D-II Concord in 2017, and might be a transfer, which would explain why he didn't play anywhere in 2018. The Virginia prospect once threw a no-hitter for Jefferson Forest at the 4A level. But in 2017 for Concord he made 6 appearances and had an ERA of 18.36 over 8.1 innings of work. In a game in February against UNC Pembroke, he yielded 7 earned runs on 6 hits in 2.1 innings of work in a 15-4 loss.
If anyone has info on where any players I missed are playing this summer, please let me know!

Matt Williams is gone according to Alex Riley. Guessing he wanted more money and Jimmy didn't have it to give. Maybe something else was going on that's less obvious.

I can't go into too many details but there'd been some grumbling about how he manages things from both a macro (management of the staff as a whole) and micro level (pitch selection) on the field. I don't know about anything off the field/contractual stuff but the former was definitely the case.
So I'm not too surprised today, despite the success of our pitching this year and all the arms we had get drafted.
Hate to see anybody get let go but we should be able to get another quality PC in here quickly. That spot has always been a bit of revolving door here, almost always with the PC leaving on his own volition and ending up getting a better job elsewhere. Some have become HC's too.
I wish Coach Williams good luck wherever he lands.

Big boosters need to step up and get this corrected. From what I have found out, Matt is being used as a scapegoat. He did nothing to deserve being let go. Looks to be a political move. Can't say anymore at this time, but the truth should surface soon. All I know is we are losing the guy who was instrumental in building one best pitching staffs in the nation.

Believe it or not, it wasn't either of them. Can't say anymore at this time. Hopefully it will all come out soon.

Yeah I agree. I don’t know any details but it’s not sounding good regardless.
I’m with ‘82... if all parties parted ways amicably even do to crappy circumstances what do we gain by outing those circumstances?

Also, the university is going to be limited in its' ability to respond due to personnel confidentiality. You'll only get rumors and one side of the story.

That incident happened sometime back. He had already been reprimanded for not reporting the incident. I don't know what all that is involved here, but it has potential to do a lot of damage to player morale.

Not good at all either when former players start calling out the administration. Not a good look
