Any idea what those numbers represent? What’s good, what’s bad, what is each column?

Academic Progress Rate.

The number on the right is the score, with 1000 being perfect.

Numbers on the left (I assume) are the rankings out of all the FBS football schools.

Hmmm. A 981 gets you in the top 25 and a 940 correlates to a 127. You could throw a blanket over the difference. At what level are you in trouble?

930 puts you into the...

Quote:Teams that fail to achieve an APR score of 930 - equivalent to a 50% graduation rate - may be penalized. A perfect score is 1000. The scores are calculated as follows:

Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one retention point for staying in school and one eligibility point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by the points possible and then multiplied by one thousand to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate score.

Example: A Division I Football Bowl Subdivision team awards the full complement of 85 grants-in-aid. If 80 student-athletes remain in school and academically eligible, three remain in school but are academically ineligible and two drop out academically ineligible, the team earns 163 of 170 possible points for that term. Divide 163 by 170 and multiply by 1,000 to determine that the team’s Academic Progress Rate for that term is 959.

The NCAA calculates the rate as a rolling, four-year figure that takes into account all the points student-athletes could earn for remaining in school and academically eligible during that period. Teams that do not earn an Academic Progress Rate above specific benchmarks face penalties ranging from scholarship reductions to more severe sanctions like restrictions on scholarships and practice time.

MAC schools show well on average. No surprise there since academics still count.

KSU struggles on the grid iron but shines in the classroom.

What I'd like to see are say 25, 50, and 75th percentile APR scores among FBS schools without interpolating results from the 2016/7 APR FBS rankings.

RE: MAC FB APR
Kent announced on twitter that the football team had a 990 APR. On the main sports page they announced eight of their teams had a perfect score and nine teams lead the MAC in APR.

CMU is listed twice, at 67 and 74. Which one actually belongs to the Browncows?

I was kinda thinking the opposite. For as much as our fans sometimes tout that MAC programs still have real student athletes compared to P5 this looks like we're pretty squarely average nationally.
