Ruger CEO Fires Back Against ‘Gun Safety’ Advocates
http://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/ruger-ce...cfb8fcf251
Quote:Recently, the New York Times touted a report claiming that “gun safety advocates” were forcing Ruger to adopt their policies and measures. Ruger’s CEO, Chris Killoy, fired back with a statement that all gun owners should hear… and repeat. Ruger’s quote, per the New York Times, flatly stated that Ruger has no intention to “adopt misguided principles by groups that do not own guns and does not understand guns.”
Quote:In an email exchange with Ruger, CFL received a copy of the company’s statement about this and it is direct:
“Please understand that Ruger was obligated by applicable law to include a shareholder’s activist resolution with its proxy materials for a shareholder vote. With its passage, the proposal requires Ruger to prepare a report. That’s it. A report. What the proposal does not do … and cannot do … is force us to change our business, which is lawful and constitutionally protected. What it does not do … and cannot do … is force us to adopt misguided principles created by groups who do not own guns, know nothing about our business, and frankly would rather see us out of business.
“As our CEO explained, ‘we are Americans who work together to produce rugged, reliable, innovative, and affordable firearms for responsible citizens. We are staunch supporters of the Second Amendment not because we make firearms, but because we cherish the rights conferred by it. We understand the importance of those rights and, as importantly, recognize that allowing our constitutionally protected freedoms to be eroded for the sake of political expediency is the wrong approach for our Company, for our industry, for our customers, and for our country. We are arms makers for responsible citizens, and I want to assure our long-term shareholders and loyal customers that we have no intention of changing that.’”

Do you really want to use the verb phrase "fires back" when stating what a firearms company does?

Yes. Primarily because when they do it kills demands based not on facts or reason but simple emotion or politics. You fire at something to kill it, and the gun control folks have a **** ton load of ignorance that needs to be killed.

The overwhelming majority of gun owners don't commit crimes with firearms. The majority of gun owners purchase guns for self-defense/protection. The majority of gun owners are Republican in affiliation. The majority of gun owners live in rural America. Hmmmm.

Plus, when you do a poll of these gun owners? They are in favor of sensible gun laws. The problems is the NRA do not listen to their own members, and neither does Republicans. Some Democrats takes things too far on gun control, not all.

Neither nor there but isn't a revolver the best gun to get if you don't want it to jam or go off in case it is dropped ?

When a dim proposes a "sensible gun law" let me know because I haven't seen one yet.

"Sensible gun law" = turn in your guns NOW.

Just to be clear, I'm siding with the Ruger CEO. The left is in full on attack mode and it is an attack overwhelmingly for political purposes against responsible gun owners who also happen to be mostly GOP affiliated and mostly live in non-urban centers. Remember the presidential vote tracker national map results that broke it down by counties?

Fake news, you're citing push polls from gun grabber groups.

The operative word is sensible. Several things being proposed--"assault weapons" ban, psychological background checks, gun registration--don't meet that test.

That's what they want. Some are honest enough to say it. Most aren't.

There are already plenty of sensible gun laws on the books. The problem is that criminals don't obey those laws. Adding another set of "sensible" laws would do nothing but create even more laws for those criminals to break.
If a shooter has no regard for another person's life and thinks nothing of killing on cold blood, what makes you think another "common sense" law will stop them?
There have always been guns in our culture, and plenty of them. The question should be why is there NOW an increase in "mass shootings" ? That question will never be asked because it doesn't fit the narrative and it would force some people to have to answer tough questions about things like culture, mental health, lack of discipline, etc. Questions that might not shine a very good lite on some people.
