RE: WAC Slummit Challenge
Shouldn't they play South Dakota st? Ndsu was in the bottom half of the standings last year. This sounds fun if all of the conference is involved.

I'm guessing GCU plays South Dakota with former assistant Todd Lee now head coach.

What’s your definition of a lot? UMKC and Chicago St barely get fans to their home games, what makes you think there’s enough of them to travel to see them play on the road?

I'd definitely be into a matchup against Lee & Co.

I'd be disappointed if we got matched up against anyone else

I wonder who would get Denver, GCU? That would be a really funny match-up.

Random guesses

NMSU - NDSU
GCU - USD
Chicago St - Omaha
UTRGV - Western Illinois
CSUB - IPFW
UVU - Denver
Seattle - SDSU
UMKC - Oral Roberts

Also, don't forget that the WAC is adding Cal Baptist in 2018-19, while Summit is picking up North Dakota. While I would actually be very interested in that UVU/Denver matchup, GCU/Denver matchup would be pretty hilarious/ironic. I wonder how strongly Denver feels about GCU now, given the pending return to nonprofit status?

Given they were only a year apart in transitioning to D1 and they beat GCU in OT at GCU Arena during 2015-16 season, I could maybe also get into a GCU/Omaha matchup.

RE: WAC Slummit Challenge
I expect the WAC-tSL Challenge will work like the BSC-tSL Challenge (below). 4 schools form each participating:

Quote:from https://gobison.com/news/2017/11/27/ndsu...ath=mbball

2018-19 Season
North Dakota at Montana State
Montana State at Omaha
Montana at South Dakota State
North Dakota State at Montana
Eastern Washington at North Dakota State
South Dakota State at Eastern Washington
Omaha at Idaho
Idaho at North Dakota

2019-20 Season
Montana State at North Dakota State
South Dakota State at Montana State
Montana at Omaha
North Dakota at Montana
Eastern Washington at North Dakota
Omaha at Eastern Washington
North Dakota State at Idaho
Idaho at South Dakota State

2020-21 Season
Montana State at North Dakota
Omaha at Montana State
South Dakota State at Montana
Montana at North Dakota State
North Dakota State at Eastern Washington
Eastern Washington at South Dakota State
Idaho at Omaha
North Dakota at Idaho

2021-22 Season
Montana State at South Dakota State
North Dakota State at Montana State
South Dakota State at Idaho
Idaho at North Dakota State
Eastern Washington at Omaha
North Dakota at Eastern Washington
Montana at North Dakota
Omaha at Montana

The 4 schools in the Big Sky Challenge are: NDSU, Omaha, UND, SDSU

The 2 schools confirmed in the WAC challenge, NDSU and Omaha

Geography clearly played a part in the 8 teams involved in the Big Sky Challenge, and might also in the WAC. If it does DU and ORU or USD would logically be the other 2 schools from the Summit. But if RPI is more of an indicator, SDSU and USD are likely to be the other two schools.

RPI would suggest the 4 WAC schools will be NMSU, GCU, UVU and SU, with NMSU and SU confirmed.

We can rule out Chicago State as not acceptable, CBU as still counting D-II this year so not yet eligible, and CSUB because they will exit in 2 years and so cannot be part of what is probably a 4 year rotation.

That means the final 2 schools will come from GCU, UVU, UMKC, and UTRGV with NMSU and SU confirmed. GCU seems a given, and UVU had an RPI of 90 this year. So my WAG:

NMSU, SU, GCU, UVU vs. NDSU, Omaha, USD, SDSU

RE: WAC Slummit Challenge
Did some digging tonight, 4 games seem set

2018-19
NDSU at NMSU
Omaha at Seattle
Denver at UVU

2019-20
UVU at NDSU
NMSU at ?
Seattle at ?

We are missing one more pair. I would expect GCU to be the 4th WAC school, I figure one of the South Dakota schools will be tSL rep.

So @t_creer54 I got the answer of who @UVUmbb is playing in the WAC/Summit League Challenge.

Wolverines will host Denver in Orem and play at North Dakota State the following year. #WAChoops

Good MTE for NMSU to be in. I can also add Aggies will host North Dakota State in 2018-19, which is part of a WAC-Summit League challenge. Aggies will be at a Summit League team in 2019-20.

RE: WAC Slummit Challenge
Seems to me Slummit is making out like a bandit to schedule top teams only from two conferences. Trying to up their RPI. If it doesn't benefit the WAC after two years, it needs to be dropped.

Playing a Slummit team is better than playing another MEAC or SWAC team.

Yeah, but if it doesn't benefit the WAC after a few years, it needs to be dropped.

Looks like maybe UMKC vs Oral Roberts next year.

We had a nice rivalry with them in mid 2000s.

If you want it to benefit your school, step up and play SDSU.
