Owls vs Cardinals
Not a good start. Walk, single, K, walk.
Pitcher's best friend 6-4-3 double play gets the Owls to the B1 with no score.

RE: Owls vs Cardinals
After pitching so well for a month, Garcia has suddenly reverted to his 2017 form, and can no longer find the third consecutive start.

No score, bottom of the 4th. Both teams' starters have been replaced now.

RE: Owls vs Cardinals
Total ineptitude once again in situational hitting. Back-to-back singles to open the 3rd inning, and instead of moving the runners into scoring position for our #4 and #5 hitters, we swing away....get a force out, then hit into a DP. Truly pathetic.

Are Karlgaard and Wade Townsend fighting in the bowels of Reckling?
Wade was tweeting about being at the game tonight.

RE: Owls vs Cardinals
Still scoreless after 4. Owls have stranded 6 runners so far ... including runners in scoring position in each of the past three innings.

Again, as I've said repeatedly, I've never seen a team so inept at manufacturing runs.

RE: Owls vs Cardinals
Strange video direction today. Lamar's leadoff batter bunted to Comeaux, who apparently made a nice catch and throw to get the 5-3 putout. We saw only the runner going down the line.
And the same for the inning-ending flyout.
Still scoreless ... heading to B5.

1 on, 1 out in the top of the 9th. The bullpen is pitching for pride at this point. 2-1 Rice.

Looks like we finally found a team we can beat. Rice wins 2-1 but Lamar had 2 guys thrown out at the plate trying to score (including the final out of the game).

One of the most inexplicable things this year, IMO, is the way The OG has used (or not used) Evan Kravetz vs. virtually every other pitcher on the staff. For those who haven't noticed, Evan has actually been quite effective and consistent the past 4 - 6 weeks...yet, he rarely gets to pitch to more than 3 batters, regardless to whether he gets them all out. And, invariably, as soon as he is replaced, the next reliever bombs and immediately gives up runs. It's a real headscratcher.

Maybe he is saving Kravetz for the postseason

Kinda like sunday when he pulled Acker with 2 outs in the 9th....he gave up a single leading 4-0 and immediately yanked him in favor of Jeffries, who had been good but had also pitched the day before. You could see a quite heated conversation between Acker and the OG. Not sure why giving up a single with 2 outs and a 4-0 lead would be grounds for pulling him.
6 runs later we lose...
I don't get it either.
The OG has his reasons and I feel obnoxious for even questioning him but, dang...I don't understand some of the pitching decisions.

Let's not exaggerate things. He pulled Akers after he walked the leadoff man, the #7 batter, on 4 pitches...wild pitched him to 2B...gave up a single to the #8 hitter...wild pitched him to 2B (now runners on 2B and 3B, two outs)...and then gave up a two-run scoring single to the #9 hitter. I had no problem with him pulling Ackers after that, especially with the hard-hitting top of the lineup coming up. My issue was going with Jefferies, who had just pitched 2 exceptional innings the day before, instead of Gayle, who had an extra day of rest. Heck, with their left-handed leadoff hitter due up-- a guy with good pop, I would have also considered going with Kravetz to close out the game.

I'm sure you're right on the situation. I just remember thinking with the lead as it was, I though Acker would be ok. I do agree that Kendall wasn't the right choice given that he was probably not 100% after pitching the day before.
