Yeah, my daughter and I are going to drive to the game for a daddy/daughter day.
Same here. We should be at Ledo's around 4:00.
Big Gathering planned for BWW.
I'm down for that. What time?
Stay tuned...I will get the information.

We will be hard pressed to win 6 this season as it is, swapping LU for a P5 would make that highly unlikely. I'm perfectly fine with LU on the schedule, an in-state, drivable game where the fan bases are familiar with each other and the competition should be good. It should build interest in the state and generate some publicity where we recruit students. Getting beat by Alabama on the road in the first week and then having a 4 or 5 win season is not a better option than playing LU in my opinion.
I could not agree more. We are going to be pressed to win six games (although I’m hoping for more). The Liberty game is critical to getting to six wins/bowl - and they are certainly not a cupcake. Also, opening against a P5 on the road would be a huge mistake. It’s a near guaranteed loss and a massive hit to the confidence of the players. Having them potentially be cannon fodder makes no sense.

If I'm not mistaken, weren't we originally scheduled to play UVA until we got this payday game?

I think it’s VMI we moved for this payday.

This is from Harry's Pilot article on May 15 last year.
"ODU’s 2018 contest with VMI was moved from Sept. 8, 2018, to Nov. 17 of that year. ODU was scheduled to play at Virginia on Nov. 17, and that game was moved to Sept. 21, 2019. A home game with Buffalo in 2019 was moved to 2023."

What do you think the total cost was to Liberty to make all that happen?

I suspect the only cost to Liberty was the $1.32M they paid ODU with any other costs associated to changing schedules borne by ODU. No facts, just opinion.

I understand anything can happen on any given Saturday but from the game tape i watched of Liberty didn't give me a feeling that they are very good or even good for that matter. I watched their games with Baylor, highlights of kennesaw and then St Francis. That liberty fan claiming that their QB Buckshot is NFL talent is way off. I am not an NFL recruiter or one of those analysts that pick apart talent but from what i have seen he has got good arm and that's it. He doesn't have good wheels and can't escape pressure but when he is the pocket he can make some throws. They seem to have a decent WR Gandy Golden or what ever that kids name is and those are dime a dozen at FBS level. Their OL is awful just like ours early last season. Defense is okay i guess but FBS offenses will get through them and ofcourse this is all last season so it has little to no bearing on how they play this season but to claim that QB and WR are NFL talent is just wrong. There are plenty of QB's with good arm warming up NFL benches and that WR will not be drafted unless he improves drastically this season.

RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: Liberty
Liberty is just not a very good football team. Go back and take a second look at my post #142. Their six wins last year came over teams with a combined record of 17-46, including three teams with two wins among them. I repeat -- this will not be a close game.

RE: ODU Football Opponent Preview: Liberty
I agree Liberty is not a good team right now - but they are not a cupcake either. I would feel more confident if we were playing the game at home. We’re going to be playing in a tough atmosphere and their players are going to be extremely hyped when the game starts. I’m hoping our d-line knocks the wind out of them out of the gate (they will set the tone for the entire game), and then our o-line grinds them with power running by Cox.
We need this win to get to a bowl.

You saying our defense is decent and our Oline is awful shows you know absolutely nothing about our team. Our defense couldn’t stop a grandmother from running last year. This post is proving my point. Actually look into things before making public comments lol!

ODU beat 1-11 Charlotte 6-0 at home last season. Liberty was a better team than Charlotte. They pass the eye test IMO. I guess I'm just lacking the confidence in our team until we start putting it together on the field. I definitely don't see how we win this one running away. Vegas seems to agree with us being 6 point favorites. I think thats a reasonable line for the game.

So you are saying I am clueless because i called an awful defense a decent one is it any worse than your claims of NFL talent at QB and WR and that should tell you how clueless you are at judging talent and Football.Scram turd you have no point to begin with.

Agreed. I don't think we've reached the level where we can discount anyone yet.
And Liberty is going to be pumped for this one at home. I'd love to see us blow them out, but we'd best be prepared for a battle.

The crowd will be silent by the 8 minute mark after we return a kickoff for a td, their offense goes 3 and out, then we march down and score again.
But then again, Liberty has an NFL caliber QB apparently. Lol.

What a bunch of Sallies. "The offense puts butts in seats, but defense wins games". Trust in Shane and the boys. We're going to Pontius Pilate these candy-asses.
