LU's Calvert is a very good QB. As a Soph he was 2nd team all (FCS) conference.
His stats were darn good but not Earth shattering.
He is no threat to run, yet our vaunted edge rush could get no sacks; I guess partially due to the ease in which he could quickly hit an open receiver.
Oh well, we can work on pass defense all week because we still have our superb DL and faster and better LBs this season to stop the rush. NOT
Liberty shredded us on the ground as well. 242 yards @6.9 yds per carry. Last year top RB, Mathews rushed for 226 yards on 31 carries on the year; including his best game v s Morehead St of 103 yards. We were his second best career effort @101 yards.
SW's performance was terrible, however our strength was supposed to be our rush. It should not have been all on him. Our celebrated running backs totaled 86 yards on 29 carries for less than 3 yds per carry.
SW added 10 carries for 43 yards that but I think only 2(?) of his rushes were designed. He is good at running for his life, but we cannot predicate an offense on that.
Our lack of rushing prowess against a mediocre FCS team (last year) should be cause for the most concern. If we cannot rush, then we are asking our QBs to perform like TH, without the luxury of his his receivers. We even rushed better in the UNC debacle.
I cannot remember an ODU game where we were so completely inept in all aspects of the game.
Especially our vaunted D-Line. I left after the 3rd quarter and to that point, they had zero sacks, two hurries, and one knockdown, at least from what I observed.
I didn't see the 4th quarter, but I can't imagine the stats improved much.

Seconded.
(Sloppy Seconded?)
Family style.
Since my post was mod deleted for some reason I’ll just ask you lot again, finished jerking yet?
I've never watched these things. Not sure if this is how he normally is, but with the way he is carrying himself... I would not have been able to play for him.

Same here. Actually had this conversation with a friend last year. I have to play for a coach like Mike Leach, Bobby Knight or Steve Martin ect. I could never play for a coach like Wilder who claps after a 4th down fake punt fail. Once had a baseball coach like Wilder really nice guy but his motto was if we never win a game at least we went out there looking good.

Bobby has won with his style, so I have no issue with that. The problem here is that we all saw the game, so it doesn't help to suggest that we really didn't see what we saw. We didn't see a "strange" game. We saw a sucky one. We didn't do anything well.
I really don't care how he talks to the media. Hard to believe he'd ever do it like Saban or some of these hard*****. I just hope he is talking to the team with the appropriate level of fire and brimstone. Guess we'll see once they come out tomorrow night.
