But a Temple spokesman said they expect approvals by June, so possibly something gets built. A statement like that indicates things are further along than ever before.
If they expect to get their site and building permits by June then I would also assume that they have already selected a G.C. and that the G.C. has their subs lined up.
In addition, it would also tell us that the drawings are complete and are in for review with the AHJ.
If all of this is true then that is great news as they wouldn't have submitted for their site and building permits without also knowing that the rest of the issues with the neighbors are resolved.
What it indicates is that the extortion $$$ figure has been agreed upon for the freeloaders of the neighbourhood. They will get more freebies and free tuition, then turn around and bash the university.
Hmmmm. I wonder if Kenneysense was one of those freeloaders and the fact that we haven't seen him around for over a week is indication that he was finally paid off ?
Could be. thankfully he was banned
Kennysense got banned? That sucks. He was like greenwave-1,600. Never understood but yet a good man to be reckoned with in here. RIP Kennysense

only Yulman comes to mind having residential property immediately adjacent. Ford and Liberty Bowl have residential nearby, but there is buffer space around them so its not nearly as close.
Yeah it's reminiscent of Yulman, though in a more urban environment. Ours is urban by the definition of "in the middle of the city," but we're in a more residential area.
To the Temple fans too scared to hope this might actually happen: we definitely thought Yulman would never happen because of the neighbors, who are wealthy and well-connected, but our athletic department managed to make it happen. Honestly what y'all are saying right now about yours sounds exactly like the conversations Tulane fans were having when Yulman was first proposed. I think you're going to get your stadium. Just keep in mind that when you're working in close proximity to the rest of the city, you may not get everything that you want (or that's been proposed). Keep the faith, Temple fans!
You know what Yulman needs ? A gigantic inflatable green angry wave guy to hover over the stadium. It needs to be seen all the way from downtown at eye level though.
Come to the game or else!

The City of Philadelphia rejected Temple's proposed OCS citing the plans failed to address a multitude of infrastructure, traffic and zoning considerations.
Some very incompetent folks in charge @ Temple but very appropriate given whom they lead

Another Temple basher. Something in the water around here generates this self-loathing and need to eat our own. I support Temple building an on campus stadium; for that stance I and other supporters receive worse shots than we do from other fan bases! Regarding the post, this is typical in complicated projects, simpletons and stadium stompers are just too self involved to understand that. The stadium will be built.

I was about to say I think this would be pretty common. Essentially they just locked in all the complaints. After going over the plans and eliminating the concerns they should be good to go. Before this public meeting the city could just keep stringing you along. Now they gave you the to-do list. It will be harder to add on requirements when Temple has a public record of what the city wanted.

Didn't Temple face the same problems to get the Apollo/Liacuras Center built? It's always going to be a struggle when you're in a city.

I dont know what you are talking about ??? What does this have to do with my post, the City rejected Temple's proposal, a pretty important hindrance to building a stadium.

RE: Update Temple Stadium
The city has not officially rejected Temple's multi-purpose facility yet. What has happened is that the local city council member in Temple's area has said that he will not support it unless the locals do.
It would seem like it is dead with him saying that but Temple says that they expect approval in June. Temple would need approval from the city planning commission and another city agency. Seems like to me that they are daring the councilman to reject it if the two commissions approve it.
Keep in mind that this facility will include two classroom buildings and perhaps 8 retail stores along with the stadium. Also in the works is money from Temple to fix up a rec center and open another one for the community.
The 8 retail stores and the two rec centers would greatly benefit the community. That's an awful lot to reject because they don't want Temple to play 6 football games on campus.
