Guys, this is getting ridiculous. Its not a 'victory' when a SRO has to shoot someone on a school campus. Its a victory when the number of these events is reduced. And these attacks have been increasing recently.

And stopping the sale of assault rifles will do nothing to stop it. It might reduce the number of fatalities. Or it might increase since they will use bombs instead, like in Austin.

We've tried the NRA method. More guns and more acceptance of gun violence.

Guns conspiring with bullets. Take away the guns, problem solved.

Is there a difference between "gun violence," "sharp object violence," and "bomb violence?"
You are focusing on the wrong problem.

In this case, it is the SRO doing what they are supposed to do.
So, how do you propose to stop these events from happening? Serious question.

No doubt that it is. So what changed between today's world and previous generations of students who didn't decide to shoot up schools?

We've tried the NRA method. More guns and more acceptance of gun violence.
We've also tried the "gun free zone" and "strict gun law" approach and yet places like Chicago are war zones.
What we HAVEN'T tried to to have a discussion as to why certain people think it's perfectly acceptable to vent their frustration/anger by shooting people. Why certain communities find it acceptable to solve their problems by shooting each other.
There's numerous reasons, but most are never addressed.

Gut feeling is this one isn't going to be used as a rallying cry for the hoplophobes.

Okay, I can agree with you. Now, propose a law that isn't already on the books which will lead to said reduction?

It's the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. It's not politically advantageous to delve into those issues, so the problem is broadened in scope to be all encompassing when it really is not.
Anyone know the primary reason for gun deaths in the U.S. is? Suicides.
Quote:This is ALL THINGS CONSIDERED from NPR News. I'm Michel Martin. We want to return to a subject that appears often on this and other news programs, and that subject is gun violence. Whether the issue is police killings or mass shootings or street violence, those are tragic. But it turns out that gun suicides claim far more lives than any of those other issues. Suicides from guns make up nearly two-thirds of all gun deaths in the United States, and they overwhelmingly affect white men. That is according to a report by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. That's an advocacy group focused on reducing gun violence. We asked Kris Brown, co-president of the Brady Center, to talk with us about this in greater detail. Kris, thanks so much for speaking with us.
https://www.npr.org/2017/09/30/554789675...-homicides
The primary root cause for gun deaths in the U.S. is a mental health issue. If we want to curb deaths due to guns, we MUST start here.

It's the Liberal version of Abstinence Education. If we pretend guns don't exist and that we don't need to be educated on them, then it will just go way, right?

Tom at the time of this posting
1 - Do you know what gun was used
2 - Do you know the motivation
3 - Do you know if the perp was a student or not
4 - Do you know anything

How about we do what we used to do before the political correctness madness took hold? How about we lock up crazy people until we're sure they're no danger to themselves or anyone else?

Lol. Funny how these people never attack police stations. Look---getting rid of guns is just not viable. How has getting rid of drugs to solve the drug crisis worked out for us? Its naive.
