Joe Esposito and Butch Pierre
Question to the board -

Would Penny benefit by retaining Joe and Butch on the staff?

A) Both Guys seem to be hard working and respected coaches
B) Might give the best players on our current roster more comfort to stay

We have some good players on the roster now who could be big time players.
Jamal is gonna be MONEY and potential NBA player
Enoh can be developed and could be a beast Jr/Sr year
Nickleberry has a huge upside

Also important to keep the best JC guys to make a run next year.

Must Keep JC guys in order:
Kareem (The Man) Brewton
Mike Parks Jr. (must drop 20lbs)
Davenport (add bulk and stop worrying about his hair)
Thornton (keep bulking up while preserving the sweet shooting touch)

No to Joe. Not dynamic enough. He’s just not.

No to Pierre. Possible FBI stuff with his name attached.

I'd like to see Antonio Anderson or Tony Allen.

I didn’t know Butch had any baggage. If so I agree to start fresh.

Those are both 2 tough DUDES I’d love to see on the Tiger sideline.

Would also love to see Mike Miller if he’s truly invested in being an assistant. To this day, I still remember MM coming up to my kid after a Griz game and being so genuine to an 8 year old. Wasn’t fake. Just a great guy who seemed humble and wanted to be a good influence.

Penny will have his own guys.

Those fellers are not his guys.

Again, Joe tries hard but he's the guy that when tasked to bring beer and girls to a bachelor party, he brings Old Milwaukee and Omega Mu's.

By definition, he completed the task, but...

Penny has to have some guys with real NCAA and/or NBA experience on his bench, we cannot load up with a head coach and 3 assistants who have no real experience. Take 1 and make him an assistant and another and make him the DBO or something like that but 2 of the assistants need to be experienced.

Yep. Pooh and Saul made Joe look good because they never brought anything to the party.

That's not a ringing endorsement. Just because you're Miss North Dakota doesn't make you one of the 50 prettiest girls in America.

Why do we continuously focus on former players as assistants? Tony Allen? Is he even retired? He hasn't coached anywhere. Antonio Anderson ... never recruited anyone.

We are going to have a former player at the top, far better to have proven recruiters or proven x/o guys as assistants.

Not all staff positions are recruiting positions. You are right about getting Xs and Os guys and recruiters, but there's a place for a guy like Antonio Anderson.
