We talked about it right after Richmond announced they were kicking him off the team and speculated that he and Nick Sherod might find their way to ODU, but I'm not sure Buckingham ever visited ODU before making his decision for CSUB. Sherod, as it turned out, never left the Spiders.

FWIW, in the Blue Ribbon Yearbook, Jones was quoted as saying he views Kithcart as more of a combo guard and playing off the ball.

Sounds like Green has had a good offseason as well.

I said before the football season started that I didn't think ODU was going to have a good season. I get the same feeling about the basketball team this season. I think a top 4 finish in conference is the ceiling (and maybe too high?). Offensive inconsistency and lack of depth will be the major roadblocks preventing this team from achieving more.

The only reason I could see us not finishing top 4 outside of major injuries is if:

Robinson is a stiff and can't compete
Dickens is not given waiver
and Ekipke is not able to contribute

We have nice balance and seemingly decent depth everywhere (outside of true 5 if Dickens isn't eligible). FWIW, Blue Ribbon gave us a top 3 frontcourt which tells us how bad the frontcourts in CUSA will be this year. Yikes.

P.S. I found it curious when reading blue ribbon that Western Kentuckys expected 4 man is 6-3 225.

I will be blown away if Dickens plays this season.

We play against

#2 St Joes
#7 VCU
#10 Richmond

Side note, interesting to see GMU picked above VCU

ODU picked 3rd in preseason poll

The only change is I could see someone making a case for North Texas over us, but I think we are the better squad.

Western clearly the most talent, but they have to hope Stansbury can mold them into a good group with a lot of youngsters. Marshall has a lot of upside too, but losing Peneva hurt. I actually want to see that 375 pounder out there.....The improvement from Williams really helped them.

Looks like Caver and Stith made 2nd team all preseason.
