Tomorrows game at 3:30 isn't exactly what I'd call early. If the kids aren't up to play this one, the staff has to shoulder the blame not the time of day.
Yeah, Mick and staff should be in each kids room to make sure they are getting plenty of sleep and giving them a constant pep talk to make sure they are focused.

So their performance isn't part of his job evaluation? Why do we pay him then?
It's not like they're in another time zone, why would a 3:30 start time be a justification for lethargy?
Like, what's the logic here? They don't get rolling 'til 7:30 at night or something normally?
Not like they're senior citizens either. They're in their 20's for **** sakes.
I'm just saying, motivation shouldn't be hard to come by. That's what coaches are supposed to give their players and given the gravity of the moment, no excuses for not finding it tomorrow.

I think we come out motivated, we lost our last game to Houston so we need some revenge. And it's for the tournament championship.
Coaches can only motivate so much. Players have to want it. SMU and Memphis were teams we'd beat handily in our previous matchups with them, so our players weren't expecting a fight. Couple that with wanting to save energy for the finals and they came out flat. Today will be different, there's no overlooking Houston and there are 4/5 days of rest on the horizon. They will give it their all, Cronin shouldn't need to say/do anything.

I think we will be pretty sharp as well. Noon games (11:00 yesterday) suck no matter when it is during the year.
Keep Houston from raining 3’s and all will be good.

Agree with this. It was hard to get motivated against a team that we beat so badly. Even the second game at Memphis was not as close as the score indicated. I dozed off a couple times in the first half myself. I think we will be focused against Houston.

I imagine the seniors have a bad taste in their mouth from the loss at Houston. Motivation shouldn't be an issue.

I agree. Bet we see lots of guys off the UC bench today rotating on those sharpshooting Cougar guards. Nsomeme included; he's really impressed me with his ability to step out and guard smaller players.
Houston seems to be a team that is not only physical but a little reckless, fouling a lot in the process. It may actually benefit UC if this one is called closely, given Clark's and Washington's abilities to attack the goal and draw the defenders.
I'm cautiously optimistic that the good guys win this one. Bearcat fans have been faithful as the program has been rebuilt from the ground up. This is the year to take the conference tournament trophy and continue a memorable March. Go 'Cats.

Nsomeme's footwork is really impressive.

Houston has averaged 22 fouls per game so far in the tournament, UC has averaged 14 fouls per game in the tournament. UC is also the deeper team, with 10 players getting significant minutes, Houston only goes 8 deep.
As long as the fouls are called evenly, a tightly called game should favor UC.

Listening to Mick and the players after each game I am pretty sure they are motivated to win. Not sure what every one else is seeing. Sometimes the other team even makes shots. Shocking, I know.

Post game yesterday Mick said they came out flat. That flatness was probably due to their figuring they'd blown out Memphis twice and thinking they could show up and win.
They will not make that mistake this afternoon. They will be motivated because there is revenge and a trophy/title on the line.

Best I could find on short notice...
"Mick Cronin: 'We're not concerned with Xavier' "
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/.../77233124/
I actually like Mick and I am forever grateful for him taking the program over. I am not a Mick hater nor do I want him gone. But from his own lips..."UC is not concerned with Xavier."
