So happy for him! Another Bearcats legend who worked his arse off for 4 years and continued improving his game to achieve greatness and the recognition for it. Well earned and well deserved!

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Cincinnati senior forward Gary Clark became the first player in American Athletic Conference history to earn three individual awards in the same season, as he added Player of the Year accolades to previously being voted the Defensive Player of the Year and earning the Sportsmanship Award. Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson was voted the Coach of the Year, while ECU freshman Shawn Williams was selected the Rookie of the Year.

Great to see this young man rewarded for staying in school and developing his talents during a complete career. Congratulations to him. He's already earned a spot among the all-time great Bearcats and we're all hoping there is much more to come.

Gary deserves all the recognition he has gotten and more. I'd love to see him kick it up one more notch and lead this team to an AAC Tourney Championship and a long run in the NCAAs.

When do the AA teams come out, and do you think he'll be on any?

My guess is he'll be honorable mention. To put him on 1-3rd team you need to dig really deep into advance metrics that show him as the best defender in the country. Don't see most doing that.

NBC Sports had him on their second team.

I've always thought "coach of the year" awards are the dumbest awards in sports. What exactly is the basis of the award? It seems it just goes to whichever team did better than expected, how does that determine if Mick, Marshall or Sampson did a better job coaching.

i know it's been posted somewhere, but Gary doesn't meet the criteria to have his jersey retired, right?

Pound for Pound Evans had better overall year and played better defense. Congrats to Clark though.
