I think a 2-2 showing this weekend might put us in the top 25 conversation... thoughts?

Kendall posted his recap less than 30 minutes after our game ended. I think that's why it was omitted.

I don't think 2-2 will get us into the Top 25 this week (and even doubt 3-1 would do the trick), but it would position us for a ranking in subsequent weeks if we win series against HBU (who have been impressive so far) and Gonzaga.

3-1 against Stanford SHOULD do the trick....

But I would be ecstatic with 2-2...and not discouraged with 1-3 (competitively)....Stanford is the real deal this year.

Agreed, especially without DiCaprio and Dunlap.

Agree with all of the above. A 3-1 weekend would certainly turn some heads.

Do we know the pitching rotation yet? Assume its the same as last weekend for the first three games.

Yep.

Any news on Dom's injury?

I think we should all be very pleased with a 2-2 record this weekend. Obviously, 3-1 or 4-0 would be ideal. 02-13-banana02-13-banana

Last night was my first time watching Gayle throw in person. Was very impressed with not only his fastball but also the sharp, late break on his breaking ball. Kid looked pretty dang good.

I agree. If he can harness that thing....he could be that stopper we need to replace Otto.

Gayle clearly has electric stuff. The only issue-- but it's a big one-- is whether he can maintain command of his pitches. A closer can ill-afford to issue free passes.

Sources say that Dunlap will not be ready for action until HBU series. Also heard that the rumors of Dom are not totally correct. Heard he still has a chance at making the Stanford Series.

Well the team has already left for Palo Alto. Do we know if he was with them this morning?

Heard they might fly him out on his own to meet up with the team if his results show nothing broken. So this could be really good news for the owls.

Hand injuries do not always show up clear on a X-Ray. I presume he is getting a CT done to show a more definitive image.

Salinas-Canterino-Moss for the first 3 games, and all-staff for the Sunday finale (depending on who is available after the first 3 games). Given we have no mid-week games next week, it's likely Akers will start on Sunday, especially since he only went 2.2 innings last night. Then next weekend, Canterino stays on Friday, while Salinas moves into his now regular Saturday slot.

Hmmm. Wayne himself was quoted as saying he'd be missing some time, but that it was not a season-ending injury.

I read that quote as "some time" meaning he was unsure how much. "Some time" may well be just the Texas State game or it could be a game or two of the Stanford series. It could also be a month. I think it's pretty unclear to everyone right now, based on the comments here. Think Graham was just expressing some uncertainty

Hopefully, Dom is back soon. If not, getting Dunlap back could really help fill the void. Cox was really bad in LF last night. He's a freshman so its understandable. But we desperately need a LF that can do the job adequately.

Walt? Thoughts?

What about Staab or Brewer in LF? What's the deal with those 2? I don't have any inside info but I know that Staab was pretty highly regarded coming out of HS. He was drafted (late).

I like Cox a lot better than Weyler, but last night's play in LF was inexcusable at this level. I'd give Duluc a try. Aviles appears to be overmatched as a hitter at the moment.
