Right now, this is the most efficient offensive team we've had in at least 15 years.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I'm irritated at myself for continually seeing the phrase "offensive efficiency" and not fully understanding what it means.

Is that another way of saying points-per-possession, or is it something more?

Yes, efficiency is measured by how many points you score per possession. It makes sense because scoring 75 points in 65 possessions is much better than 80 in 80.

Thanks. (I feel marginally less stupid.)

The most important offensive stat is to score more then the other guys, no matter how you do it!
We have a great offense and a great defense this year. Look at those stats, we don’t turn it over ourselves and have a fantastic assist to turnover ratio.

Except when we play the upper echelon teams. That has been the problem since Jones has been our coach.

That's the problem with "advanced" metrics in college basketball.

It's not taking into effect strength of

Any acc team could put up insane stats playing nothing but 200 and 300 rpi teams all year.

I was very hopeful for the conference tournament, because I thought our defense would travel. We need to figure things out on the defensive end. You never know what can happen in 3 days at a neutral site.
