Dude, it's basketball.

A good hire turns it around in one season.

Spare me the hyperbole.

One fire. One hire.

Let's get together and feel all right.

There isn't a coach out there who could turn Memphis around in one year. If they'd have hired the right guy to follow Paz, sure, there was quite a bit of talent left.

Tubby has taken care of that.

There's not much here to work with.

It will take until season 3 for whoever the new coach is to fix this ****. ASSUMING they actually make a good hire and there's zero guarantee of that.

If Tubby stays next year and then gets the boot there won't be a D1 player left on the roster.

The cupboard will be bare and stark.

No way anyone comes into this mess and makes the NCAA tournament in year 1 or 2.

But there would be hope again.

BB without hope is dead.

BB with hope is alive.

He's only pointing out the obvious. Tubby is AWEFUL. If you can't see that, you don't know basketball. Tubby is EXCELLENT at a small part of the job. He really can teach basketball. He really is a decent person. Not a great person like some try to say. What great human says "I wish he'd drown" to a person because that person made their job difficult? This makes him qualified to be a HS coach.

Parrish was happy when we lost to Kansas. Screw him

Hell, five years ago today Memphis was 18-3 en route to a 27-4 regular season and subsequent CUSA tourney title.

Well what would it take to bring back hope and entice fans to indeed 'trust the process'?

No matter who is hired there will be two years of mediocrity while the foundation is laid.

So, lets start with the hire. It will have to be a proven guy who has had success BUILDING a program at at least the mid-major level. Anything else and nope, I'm not going to buy in just because he sounds enthusiastic on the radio.

Then we need to see not only 80 hour weeks on the recruiting trail; we need to see RESULTS. We need to see a top 10 recruiting class (not as hard when you are bringing in 8-9 players).

Then the product on the floor needs to be crisp, effective, and exciting. The wins may not be there but we need to be able to see that with upgraded talent the team could be dominant.

The fan base would get behind a coach and a program like that. There would be hope of better days coming.

I have zero faith that this type of hire will be made. Zero. They'll over react again and hire Penney or some other not ready for primetime guy.

They are going to screw this up.
