Well what would it take to bring back hope and entice fans to indeed 'trust the process'?
No matter who is hired there will be two years of mediocrity while the foundation is laid.
So, lets start with the hire. It will have to be a proven guy who has had success BUILDING a program at at least the mid-major level. Anything else and nope, I'm not going to buy in just because he sounds enthusiastic on the radio.
Then we need to see not only 80 hour weeks on the recruiting trail; we need to see RESULTS. We need to see a top 10 recruiting class (not as hard when you are bringing in 8-9 players).
Then the product on the floor needs to be crisp, effective, and exciting. The wins may not be there but we need to be able to see that with upgraded talent the team could be dominant.
The fan base would get behind a coach and a program like that. There would be hope of better days coming.
I have zero faith that this type of hire will be made. Zero. They'll over react again and hire Penney or some other not ready for primetime guy.
They are going to screw this up.
