RE: Is Cane Broome The X Factor?
A few games ago, I heard Terry Nelson on the radio broadcast state that Broome always has a t least one turnover right after he enters the game for the first time. I have paid attention the last three games, and darn if Terry isn't right on the button.

Yep. Within the first 2 possessions. And regularly has at least one of his first inbounds passes make everyone slap their forehead.

Was saying the same thing last night as well. It's like he needs to come in, turn the ball over a couple of times, get pulled and then come back in to be ready to play.

I think Mick is handling the PG position just fine so far. Jenifer is disruptive on D and can expend as much energy as he needs to. Impossible to play that way for 40 minutes splitting time is a necessity.

They're rolling teams right now, no complaints.

passing. you still need good passing and floor spacing. If you noticed with evans or broome at point, neither passes ball up the court for fast break opportunities. That really leads to lazy offense, guys don't run as hard to their spots if they know ball isnt coming right away. With JJ in game no matter if if has ball or not players know when he does get ball he's looking to pass right away and basically thats type player anybody would want to play with.

You don't think Cane likes to pass it to start a fast break? Felt like he did it several times against UCF last night.
He cant even make the simple passes around the perimeter. Score first PG

he has the 2nd highest ARate of any Mick PG with a solid chance to have the highest before the season is over.

Not bad for a can't pass score first PG.

The highest was Cash back in 2011.

Speaking of Cash, if you have kenpom go check out his career here. Compare that to the season Broome is having. Might be surprising in what you find out.

sorry i been around game too long. I really dont get into advanced stats. Im all "EYE TEST"... He's had to many lazy close passes picked off this year, none of his pass are crisp or put in shooters pocket.

The eye test should tell you he's had 5 or more assists in 4 out of the 9 conference games he has played in. Jenifer has 0 5 or more assist games in conference.

The eye test also tells anyone with eyes that work that he puts more teammates in bad positions by blowing assignments than any player who has gotten this many minutes a game in modern UC history.

RE: Is Cane Broome The X Factor?
How could anyone come.to the conclusion tat Jennifer passes the eye test over Broome? I rarely see Jennifer do anything on offense, he hustles on and gets in good position on defense, but unless you are a ball hawk/steal machine, it is kind of hard for a 5-10 guy to be that effective on defense. He's a nice, competant backup PG, and that is probably what he should be the rest of his time here. Broome has some flaws, and makes some mistakes, but he puts alot more pressure on defenses by his presence alone.

I'm convinced we have fans who do not watch anything but the ball.

Please stop peddling this nonsense. If he was such a garbage defender (as you continue to assert), he wouldn't get minutes.

What does the eye test tell you about our starting PG missing rim 3 or 4 times in 2 games on 3's? Our defense is ranked number 2 in the country on KenPom even with Broome putting "more teammates in bad positions by blowing assignments than any player who has gotten this many minutes a game in modern UC history."

EDIT: Since the SMU game, Broome has 48 points, 34 Assists, 8 Steals, 13 TO. Jenifer has 32 Points, 15 Assists, 3 Steals, 8 TO. Assuming each assist counted as 2 points, each steal counted as 2 points, each TO counted as -2 points, Broome is at 106 points since SMU. Jenifer is at 52 points. Is my "eye test" so bad that I'm missing the 54 points that Broome gave up on defense that Jenifer wouldn't have?

LOL! You guys are splitting some serious hairs. This is what we as fans do with too much time on our hands. (My hand is raised.) I think the fact that neither Broome nor Jenifer has seized the PG position full time because both have strengths and weaknesses. Mick is navigating the waters of their combined play and matchup opportunities. I see it as a strength (for now) that we have two guys that bring something different to the table. I also believe there were some minutes both shared the floor during the last game. Something must be right from a coaching, personnel and execution perspective:

22-2 (11-0)

and he wouldn't rate as a better defender in the defensive metrics than jenifer if he was such an inferior defender.
