By then Trevor Moore might've played his way into contention, but right now Broome/Jenifer are essentially co-starters.

I would love to have Evans back next year but I think it's unlikely how well he has played.

I go small next year and get up an down the court

Broome
Trevor Moore
Keith Williams
Cumberland
Big (Nysier/Eliel/Tre Scott)

I really hope Mick can pull a rabbit out of the hat and land a grad transfer who can score in the paint.

He will have major minutes to sell.

Throw out the temple game that I think he only got about 10 minutes due to looking like he had no idea what he was doing at times and he’s averaging 25 min a game over the last five games.

You are right. I just looked and he is avg 20 minutes. I would have guessed 15.

This .

Cumberland and Broome will have to assume the role of our scorers next year. I'm sure if there's a guy who fits Mick will grab him.

I think he’ll stay in the mid 20s the remainder of the year and thatvthis was the goal to get him to all along. Unless Evans gets in foul trouble again I think he stays our go to ball handler late in games or when things are rocky on offense.

Don't get me wrong, JJ has given this team steady floor leadership this season, but to be elite, do we need more Broome?

I’d say Jennifer is the X factor. We will go farther with him playing offense well than we will with Broome playing well since their D is so vastly different

That’s a pretty good perspective.

I just don’t know how many minutes Mick can afford to get Broome against teams that force you to work to defend the perimeter. SMU, Houston...Wichita’s guards could devour him if we get into a game where offensively we need his change of pace.

He might not have much of a choice. That said, this might be more about how fast Moore can grow up on the defensive end. if he's the better option, i can see Moore taking Broome's minutes with Evans handling the ball. Moore, Jarron, Evans, KW and Clark. At 6'5" (and his wingspan seems longer), he can guard the wing positions if Evans can guard the 1.

unfortunately Evans as the only PG on the court hasn't been great for us either. Evans is fine to play the PG on some possessions when we want to run specific set plays for him, but its not something Mick has felt comfortable doing for extended amounts of minutes.

broome is just going to have to give us more than he did last night, it was his worst game in a bearcat jersey. he's gotta get his confidence back and just play. the team needs him.

i haven't been able to watch a lot of the games of late because they've been on CBS Sports, but it sounds like Broome's had a pretty bad January. i'm pulling for him. i think he has a lot to offer but he's a liability on D. if Jenifer has to sit, i'd be willing to roll the dice with Moore, Jarron, Evans, KW and Clark to defend, rebound and get out in transition. Besides, we play inside out in the half court. Gary's decision making is arguably way more crucial to our half court success then either Broome/Jenifer/Evans ball handling in the half court.

Evans got quite a bit of time at PG last night, even had some possessions where Jenifer was in and and Evans was running point. I don't think it is a lack of comfort from Mick as not wanting to overwork Evans. Evans already plays a lot of minutes and having him run PG constantly is just going to wear him down more. So Mick has Evans play PG only when it really matters; in close games or end of game situations.

his shot has been really bad since the ankle injury. no denying that. but before last night he has been doing a great job moving the ball around with 23 assists the previous 5 games to just 5 turnovers.

Yeah I think thats part of it too. He has Jake playing 40 minutes in the big games and thats a lot to ask of him to do it as a PG.

Plus Jake's TORate is not great this year either. 13 TO's for him in our last 5 games. Cumberland has struggled as well.

Pretty much the guards in general have struggled with turnovers. Even Jenifer has a TORate of 19.6 in conference play. They all need to tighten it up. It's the only thing holding our offense back.

i think KW is the x factor. Gary and JEIII are the constants. KW has been more up and down this season. if both Gary and KW are going strong at the same time, we can compete with anyone. i love the way he's been playing the past couple of games. He's playing the way i want my Seniors to play. Aggressive with maximum effort. The guy wears his heart on his sleeve. Gary deservedly gets a lot of love but i hope KW gets his. He's earned it.

If Jenifer isn't in running the PG postion, I really don't see the point in him being in? I would think Moore or even Williams would be more effective. At that point you have a 5-10 SG that can only hit wide open shots.

I agree with this. With his mean face on, Kyle has been a force of late. Mick has said Kyle has embraced his leadership role as a senior this year and has really held the guys together in practice and off the court. IMHO, his over the right shoulder left handed hook/curl move looks awkward as heck sometimes but it is damn near unstoppable. Throw in his ability to shoot the trey as a big (currently shooting 42%) and he gives you another dimension. If he stays more consistent, watch out the other guys.

Jennifer's scoring last night I couldn't care less about. Its a nice bonus, though. The guy is disruptive as hell on the ball.

He is this team's T-Rat on D.

passing. you still need good passing and floor spacing. If you noticed with evans or broome at point, neither passes ball up the court for fast break opportunities. That really leads to lazy offense, guys don't run as hard to their spots if they know ball isnt coming right away. With JJ in game no matter if if has ball or not players know when he does get ball he's looking to pass right away and basically thats type player anybody would want to play with.

You don't think Cane likes to pass it to start a fast break? Felt like he did it several times against UCF last night.
