In this play, the tulsa defender was still moving and moved under an offensive player in the air which is extremely dangerous and exactly why martin got hurt. If the refs had made the proper calls during the game, this probably wouldn't even happen because tulsa would be more wary of trying to take charges every time.

They blew the call both ways tonight so don't go getting pissed over the officiating. Lucky we didn't get a flagrant 1 right at half time.
If your boy Opie was still coaching here you wouldn’t make this post. You’re a hypocrite, big time.

I see you have studied Saul Alinsky very well and have his methods down pat. Accuse the other guy of being exactly what you actually are. Go troll elsewhere.

But you must get over your "Opie" obsession. He is no longer here and has nothing to do with what is going on at this time. Other than his recruit is the only thing that keeps this team from being completely non competitive.

RE: Martin Injury
In the first half Etou threw low-post elbows to clear out his defender as soon as he got the ball, on back-to-back possessions-no foul.

It was NOT the difference maker in the game or anything, but those refs were totally incompetent. Even the announcers thought so.

Nope. Not what he said. You both clearly don’t know anything about me. Racecar guy loves Pastner, Fact, eric likes him as well because he defends him.

As for Saul Alinsky, Anything liberal, I can’t stand. Saul Alinsky is one of those. I’m conservative, always have been since I was able to vote. Try again winners.

But very consistent. They were making pretty bad calls on both sides which made it even.
Unfortunately the bad call on Martin cost us an injury and any chance at winning.

It was a horrible call, but Martin wouldve been injured even if the right call had been made.

Haven’t finished reading the rest of the thread yet but as I’m reading I’m thinking the same thing . . No matter what the refs called that wouldn’t have changed what happened to Martin.

There were at least 5 charges called (both ways) that should have been blocks before that point...

If those plays are called blocks the defender may not try to take the charge

Mark G makes an interesting point, (personality I can’t picture the play from memory) he says that it was Martins fought, says Davenport was wide open awaiting the pass but Martin went into the double team instead. Not saying I agree or disagree but it’s interesting.

It was a 2 on 1 with Martin and I guess Davenport (I cannot remember who was running the court with him). He should have given the ball up, but as pointed out, he essentially had 1 on 1 with a back peddling defender and Martin was finishing with his dominant hand, he finishes that with an easy layup 95% of the time

My gripe is simply that had the tone not been set by the refs that basically 90% of calls are charges then that defender likely does not take a charge in that instance. Realistically, how many times on a fast break like that do you see a defender try to take a charge and not make an actual defensive play. I know the defender had no intention of hurting Martin but it is still a dirty play IMO to slide underneath an offensive play in midair like that...

Good news. Per CA, Martin expected to play Saturday against Cincy.

I have no idea from memory of the play, but don't doubt it. Martin has been deliberately drawing contact a lot this year.

Welp, the announcers did say that TubBAY had the team practicing taking charges.

Drawing fouls is one of our best O strategies.

Good. I was trying not to imagine brewton or Rhodes starting at pg against Cindy.

Rhodes is one of those guys whose confidence seems to be in front of his ability for sure. Reminds me a bit of Andre Allen in that one respect, although aa was clearly the better player. Rhodes is fun to watch at least.

If I’m Tubby I keep Martin outta the Cincy game, it’s a game that we aren’t expected to win with or without Martin. (And not with Martin at less than full strength) Give him the extra days off to get to 100%.

Totally agree. Why waste him on Cincy?
