Ohio University @ Kent State
Tonight the Golden Flashes welcome not only a winter storm, but also the Ohio Bobcats to the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. OU, or, Ohio U. as they prefer to be called, enters with a winning record of 8-7, but a conference mark of 1-2.
A trio of guards in senior Mike Laster (16ppg), freshman Teyvionn Kirk (14ppg) and junior Jordan Dartis (13ppg) lead the Bobcats in scoring. Kirk and junior Doug Taylor lead Ohio in rebounding.
Not sure what to expect tonight. I imagine the gymnasium will be quite empty, which is a shame considering the opponent. But you can't blame anybody who decides to stay off roads. Fans willing to brave the elements can purchase GA tickets for this one for $6. The game will also be aired on the CBS Sportsnetwork. Tip off is set for 7:00PM.
Go Flashes!

Fan base foaming at the mouth for this one, I see.
Maybe everyone's already lined up outside the MACC.

I will not risk the drive tonight and I usually attend every game. Easy to watch on TV. I just wonder which team will show up.

It’s funny three years ago I was working 40 miles from home and 45 miles from Kent so I’d say for 5 more miles I’m going. Now the decision is between 5 miles and 0 miles and there is no way I’m going. I guess that’s not the teams fault though.

830 or so mark in second half. Peterson misses a three doesn’t follow his shot there was a tip out. Then doesn’t hustle back to stop a fast break. He’s regressing this year

Glad for the win...always good to beat OU.
Nor sure why MP was in the game the last 5 minutes? I would have played Des. He played his ass off on D when he was in. Drove the ball well and IMO is just a better all around player than MP.
I'm done with MP launching jumpers. Simply ain't working. Des undestands his role better.
Can't be because of Des's poor FT shooting (closing out games) as MP is no better.
Thoughts?

Does anyone know who that screaming woman is at Kent home basketball games? It's so irritating.

Sendy has to get a lot of credit for this win. On our last possession drawing up a play to get it to De La Rosa was gutsy since we were struggling to get it in to him all night and he wasn't having a great game. It was a good play set though and a clutch shot by AD. Then the last timeout to set up Zabo's intentional miss was really smart. At first I was upset because he was allowing OU to draw up a play since they didn't have a timeout but he didn't care about that because if Zabo executes then there's going to be a mad scramble for the ball and no play call will matter. Best case scenario for OU is one of their guards catches it off the rim but they're facing the wrong way and their momentum isn't going towards the rim with 3.1 seconds left. We got lucky that it bounced to Avery but OU would've had to be very lucky to catch it in a way where they'd get a decent look off. And props to Zabo for what was basically a perfect chest pass into the front of the rim.

For those wishing we had better shooters, Jerrelle DeBerry has now played 3 games for Utah Valley (a pretty good WAC team 13-5 2-0 in WAC). He's scoring 13.7 points in 17.3 mph and shooting 46.2% from three. I realize he was struggling defensively but I really wish we would've kept him in the rotation and let him work through it. The guy can score.
Anyone know how his eligibility works out? So he played the fall semester with us, left and sat out the spring semester and this fall semester at utah valley. So does this count as his Jr. year still?

I too, was pissed about that timeout. Zabo executed it perfectly and everything worked out great. Your worst case scenario however, is incorrect. If Zabo doesn't hit the rim (which is not uncommon when intentionally trying to miss) and OU gets the ball OB with no time running off the clock, it is a potential disaster. I can assure you had that happened, regardless of outcome, this board would be hot under the collar. Beating OU is positive no matter how it happens. Something we can all agree on!

Given Ohio's poor performance trying to get good looks at the end of games, the worst case scenario wouldn't be that bad.

She is at every men’s and women’s game. When the crowd is small (every women’s game eg) she can be heard the whole game. You also can hear her on the radio broadcasts of the football games. Not too many if any more passionate than her.
