RE: GameDay: CMU
Could you imagine where this team would be without Minnie, they might not win a game in the MAC without him.

Nobles with a clutch shot and Minnie with the finisher. Whew!
We've now won 5 straight against CMU. For all of Murphy's problems, I'm glad that he's absolutely owned CMU and Bob's boy Keno Davis. Makes me smile.

You're not wrong. Glad he's on our team.
He's like what I hoped Glenn Bryant would be: tall, stud athlete that can stretch the floor and create his own shot. Have we ever had a player like that in recent memory?

Jackson had a bad game. it was ugly, but it happens. i'm glad the rest of the team was able to pull this out.
it was nice to see Groce get that much playing time. he made a lot of great plays and a lot of terrible plays. the constant - he was always in the mix. if he makes just small, incremental improvements each year he'll be a good one. with big improvement he could be an excellent MAC player.
and Minnie was a beast in the last ~5 minutes. that was special.

i don't think it's a great comparison, but Karrington Ward is the closest to Minnie in recent memory. i think Ward was a better athlete and played more like a guard. Minnie is a big more calculated than Ward and shoots better.

Most enjoyable game. Close almost the entire way.
LOT of great FT shooting by CMU which kept them in the game.

In terms of point guard play, I'd rather see one of the other young kids get an extended look. Jackson plays hard, but he plays out of control. Every game he is taking ill advised shots, dribbling into traps, and leaves his feet prior to make a pass, and commits turnovers. Hopefully, he learns some self control because he does seem like he gives good effort, and he can obviously score. But he hurts the team with his decision making and out of control play.

I respectfully have a different view.
I like starting Groce at SF and let Bond get a lot of PT at PG.
I do like letting Ellison and McAdoo get 1st half PT.

CMU only shot 28% from 3 tonight. CMU doesn't win unless they do well from beyond the arc. Probably shouldn't have been as close as it was, to be honest.
A win is a win, though. Especially against CMU.

Fair. Ward was much better defender too. It was just so frustrating that such a great athlete couldn't get to the basket or create his own shot more. He was a blast to watch in transition, but was basically just a catch-and-shoot guy in the half court. Minnie has his moments of sloppiness, but I bet we could put the ball in his hands at the end of the game, and he'd find a way to score. He's a special offensive talent.

25 out of 27 from the FT line will keep a lot of teams in the game.
If they had made 18 (18/27 = 67%), the margin would have been double digits. (to be more accurate 19/27 would be 70% which is par for college hoops)
That was a great display of FT shooting.

Through the first 3 games of conference play, the only team sitting at 0-3 is... Akron.
My oh my, how much things can change.

Indeed. And BG and Miami are 2 - 1 while other powers, like Kent and Ohio, also struggle at 1 - 2.
Going to be a fun season.

That was insane to watch live! It even hit off the bottom of the hoop and came back through!

CMU did a pretty good job of ganging up on JT4 as soon as he got the ball. If JT4 immediately kicks it out there will be wide open shots.
Groce is a helluva athlete. Played with added intensity tonight.
Minnie is smooth.
Why are fans told to stand until EMU scores? Back in the Bowen days we stood until the opponent scored. Change it back.
The $10K putt was nice!
