You have never been a part of a "re-alignment" if you think that's what is going to happen. While a handful of people will likely get reassigned, the majority won't.
From another article that says that the store here has hopes to turn into an e-commerce facility: Hatfield said it was too early to know what would happen to the store's staffers, but that the company "will be having conversations will all of the employees to keep them up to date."
Translation: we don't want to come right out & say that most of these people won't have jobs with us in the future.
Wait a second....I thought you claimed they didn't notify employees yet here you are posting that they'll be having conversations with them.
Make up your rabbit-assed mind!
Here, I'll type slowly for you.
Workers showed up today for their shifts, and the locations were closed (i.e., no notification of employees.)
A quote from a Wal-Mart spokesperson said that it was too early to know what will happen to the employees, but that "they will be having conversations with them."
"Will be having" is simple future tense, as in, conversations have not happened yet, so the point still stands.

I'm kind of surprised 2 stores in Houston are closing including one basically across the street from the Texans football stadium which always has done good business (and there aren't many supermarkets in that part of town to begin with). I can't believe that's an under-performing store. Now there is a chance they think they can sell the land and get more off that transaction than keeping it open but it's a surprising move to me at least.

To be fair when it comes to economics finding a leftist that does have even a basic understanding of how things work is a feat in itself. All one has to do to see that is search for one of the many minimum wage threads on here and see that.
Maybe they all chose puzzy hat weaving class instead of economics in school.

So at the stores where they are reassigned the current workers will get less hours, and the reassigned workers will get less.
Hate to sound like you but do you have a link for any of that?
Nope personal logical opinion, there is also no proof that the workers will even be reassigned in first place.
So in other words you just made **** up and posted it as fact. Got it!
Have to remember that in the future. Now will require you to cite everything since you have proven yourself to be a poster who isn't trustworthy and truthful.

10 of the 63 they're closing may turn into e-commerce sites, including the one here in Memphis. I wonder if that's the plan for that one?
Sam's Club has not said how many employees are losing their jobs. Each Sam's Club warehouse employs about 175 people, meaning more than 11,000 people could be impacted.
In some cases, employees were not told their store had closed before showing up to work on Thursday. Those employees learned their store would be closing when they found the store's doors locked and a notice announcing the closing, according to reports. At some stores, employees were turned away by police officers, Sam's Club workers told Business Insider.

Don't take our word for it, just read the quote from the spokesperson of Waste Management who said that they want to help the economy by giving their workers more money.
Clearly when workers are given more money, it improves the economy.

While his store was closing there were others that weren't and the inventory could be transferred there. Angry people, like those who are informed they are losing their job, aren't rational.

And so we come full circle. It's all about the bottom line right.

It's all about a bottom line - of course they're related.
Announce the spun "good news" while the bad is happening:
-higher pay & a small bonus!
(knowing full well most wal-mart hourly employees haven't been there for long periods of time, so the $200 bonuses are more frequent than the $1000 ones)
meanwhile:
-closed stores
-layoffs at corporate
-reduction of hours to absorb a small percentage of employees from closed stores.
It's ALL related.
Of course it’s about the bottom line. WTF should it be about?
There’s nothing wrong with being about the bottom line. It forces businesses to provide what people want at a reasonable price. And knowing that it will be about the bottom line is a useful tool in making policy. You want more investment, growth, and jobs in the USA? Make the USA a more profitable place to do business.
There's nothing wrong with it being about the bottom line, until you look at how these practices affect the people who are actually shopping at Wal-Mart.
Someone mentioned earlier that Sam's was more of a suburban, higher-income place to shop. Wal-Mart is the direct opposite of that. You cut hours and/or jobs for hourly employees, they'll spend less at places like Wal-Mart, and around and around we go.
Which is why I have said all along if you want to stimulate the economy, give the biggest tax cuts to the lowest income people. They will spend the money quickly and stimulate the economy faster. Unfortunately, the Republicans once again have it bass ackwards and insist that trickle down works.
Depends on where the economy is and what it needs. Sometimes you need a demand stimulus. Sometimes you need a supply stimulus. Keynes believed that you had to keep the two at least somewhat together, and that if you overstimulate demand without catching supply up, then eventually demand stimulus will lose its effect. Unfortunately, his followers seem to have forgotten this in adopting the politically convenient stance that you can solve all problems by always stimulating demand.
Let's look at some facts:
Americans consume more and save less than citizens of any other developed country.
We are the largest debtor nation, both government and private sectors.
We are the largest importer nation.
Those things would indicate that we have plenty of demand and it is the supply side, not the demand side, that needs stimulus. Te rather puny reaction to massive demand stimulus in the past decade would suggest that Keynes's predictions about over stimulating demand are coming to fruition.
RE: Walmart boosts minimum wage to $11, hands out bonuses up to $1,000 for hourly workers
This tax cut bill will Trump (good one huh?) anything the Democrats try to do in the mid term elections and 2020. I predict another stinging rebuke from the American people. Trump Russia collusion, falling apart. You clandestinely spied on the campaign and transition team for months and you have nothing? What a comedy show the Democrat party has turned into.

you can always apply to one of the 5 remaining if you find the opposing view 'fit'ting.....and it took a bailout to keep the USD solvent for those....
