IDK... without a chubb, the wolfpack sound pretty impotent to me.

Don't read anything into what happens in a spring game/scrimmage. Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
For JMU, it has decided the starting QB. Brian Schor got to be the QB based on that spring.
I highly doubt the game/scrimmage made a difference in him winning that job one way or the other. Winning the job through the whole body of work through spring happens all the time. Just like our O-Line's play in the "spring scrimmage" will have nothing...zilch...nada...on what happens with their performance come September 1st.

Their entire front 4 defensively were drafted in the first 4 rounds I believe.
Kind of makes you wonder why their defense wasn’t any Better. They gave up 25 ppg with 4 NFL D-linemen
The LBs were average and their corners were young and not very good. Lots of third down conversions by opposing offenses. The defensive line will be good again this year. Roseboro is a hand full. He would’ve been drafted this year, but he saw how good Chubb improved his stock by staying his fourth season and decided to do the same. Ryan Finley will be the best QB in the draft next year and probably a first rounder. State will probably win 8-9 games this year going 5-3 or 6-2 in the ACC.
Many of my friends that are State fans are worried about playing us. I tell them they shouldn’t worry. We lost a whole bunch too. It’s my rope a dope strategy.

RE: JMU at NC State
I was thinking the same thing Potomac. Also, I expect it to be a dog fight. I would be mildly shocked at a win, but I also have no reason to doubt Coach Houston in preparing the team. Win or lose, this game will do far more to prepare our players for the rest of the season than ECU did last year. I suppose that means I expect a return to the NC Title game - why not?

Seems like the matchups might (and I stress "might" because who knows right now) be strength against strength.
NC State's offense should be pretty good. I have faith in Trott that while our D might not be as dominant as last year, it will still be pretty dang good...and definitely the strength of the team - especially early on.
NC State has new leadership and many holes to fill on D. I think they'll be good, but may go through some learning curves with new schemes early in the season in particular. With a new QB for the Good Guys, perhaps we may see some of the same. Having said that, other than LT and QB, we return pretty much everybody on that side of the ball including Kirkpatrick. Will be interesting to see what new wrinkles he and Houston cook up in August in advance of the opener. For example, maybe we'll see the wishbone with Cardon, Marcus, and Trai or Percy.

RE: JMU at NC State
We are inching closer to the release of the kickoff time and TV/streaming coverage for the opener. The last 4 years the ACC has announced the schedule times & TV assignments for all programs for the first 2-3 weeks of the season on these dates...

He did last year...mixed result. Started, was pulled about half way through the 3rd and then returned late in the 4th. His stats were 19 of 32 for 170 yards- 1 TD 1 int.

Yep. He started. He was pulled in the 3Q. Pitt lost at home 35-17.

So, you're down 7, 21 - 14 with one of the opponents TD's a punt return, and you pull your QB with about 3:00 minutes remaining in the 3rd who has completed over 59% for the day at 19/32 w/one interception. Hmmmm.....

I was thinking the same thing when I reviewed the recap of the game. It's puzzling decisions like that which may explain (at least partly) why he's now wearing purple. Odd.

RE: JMU at NC State
According to an article I read, it was a pre-planned move to get the freshman QB some time. I believe DiNucci was ineffective his 1st two drives of second half so that's when the coach tried it. It's why Pitt is "Pitt". DiNucci was also splitting time with another QB who got hurt the week before the State game. What a milquetoast coach. Make an effing decision.

Yep. Head scratching moments like that from the HC don’t help to build confidence from the player.
