Larry Sabato is a noted liberal Democrat but does make a very independent impartial analysis in electoral issues. But in this case his data is skewed. If I counted correctly there were 12 unopposed Republicans and 23 unopposed Democrats. So in those 35 districts no votes were tallied for the opposition party. I'd be willing to bet that there are some Republicans in those 23 districts and some Democrats in the 12 and their existence would affect that 55- 45 percentage had they a candidate for whom they could vote.

Should the legislatures in states that have this or a similar means of determining winners in a tie revisit this? Should there be a special election to break the tie? It would be an expensive solution and turnout would likely be low. Just wondering what other's thought.

Virginia has been consistently blue in statewide races yet the state legislature is red? I would imagine Democrats will take over majority in the near future and redraw the districts.

Yea, the GOP majority in the legislature is not long for this world. I don't think it lasts through the next 18 months. Redistricting will simply unpack and uncrack the districts and that will be the end of it. If the GOP wants to be relevant in Virginia, then they'll need to actually win the votes of a majority of Virginians. And people like the Cooch aren't likely to be successful.

She did sue to try to get a ballot tossed. She succeeded in delaying the coin toss, but ulrimately lost the lawsuit and then lost the coin toss, lol. I thought about putting a Putin poster in her front yard to see if she'd unravel, but she actually is a pleasant person despite the whacko politics.

No worries, I'm sure there are a couple of Republican Delagates who'd like an appointment to state government. We will have that majority in short order. BTW, that's how the Republicans flipped the legislature last time, so its fair for us to do the same thing.

Yep, look up the federalist papers and minority rights. It will explain why it was set up this way. You might even learn something. And btw this was an urban district and the democrats still lost.
