I absolutely agree with Trump on this tweet
“Why is the United States Post Office, which is losing many billions of dollars a year, while charging Amazon and others so little to deliver their packages, making Amazon richer and the Post Office dumber and poorer? Should be charging MUCH MORE!”

I read recently USPS delivers 60 percent at least of all Amazon Prime packages, and those coincidentally are the ones that Amazon is charged the least of any shipping costs. UPS and Fed Ex primarily deliver the Amazon packages that customers are being charged real shipping costs on. Amazon's goal is to eventually deliver everything themselves via drones or their own (underpaid) delivery folks, but that's going to take some time to implement. In the meantime, they're exploiting the USPS's financial issues and pretty much keeping them afloat because they have a sweetheart deal with them where they get charged way less than Fed Ex or UPS.

One thing Amazon is doing now is setting up their own parcel lockers in large apartment complexes, and charging customers a rental fee to retrieve packages. That's another fishy set-up that isn't getting much publicity. Some folks are refusing to pay Amazon that hidden fee, so instead of delivering their packages, USPS is now having to figure out which customers can't get packages delivered, and are holding them at the post office for the customers to pick up (for free - but it's an extra time consuming thing they have to worry about).

RE: I absolutely agree with Trump on this tweet
Anyone familiar with the USPS's stupid pricing for box deliveries knows that we need an IG or someone to audit their pricing policies.

Back when I shipped a lot of boxes with USPS, I had to write custom code in my software in order to bust up an order into multiple boxes. Thats because of their stupid dimensional ship rates.

For example, I could ship a 12"x12"x12" box that weighed 2 pounds priority mail (2-3days) for around $7. If I needed to ship 2lbs in a 12"x12"x13" box, yes, just one inch larger in one of the dimensions, the price would shoot up to $30+, which was more than the price for shiping the same item express mail overnight. So my software busted the order up into two separate 12"x12"x12" boxes to hold the shippng cost down below $14.

And I wondered why I had been seeing USPS trucks running on Sunday. Now I know. Amazon.

How about we do away with the Postal Service. What exactly are they providing that FedEx or UPS couldn't do?

Post office seems to be more of a direct marketing service than anything these days. 95% of what I get are sales flyers. Everything of importance to me is set up for digital billing. The post office is useless to me.

They're actually has been a couple attempts in the past to privatize this to UPS but the public union folks went bonkers. Congress backed off.

Plus, they do not take one penny from the tax payers. All the payroll and expenses is from selling stamps, shipping rates and P.O. Boxes. Many people in rural areas have P.o. Boxes because the post office do not deliver to farms and all that.

Yep. Plus, the power of the tweet to bypass the MSM and to neuter opponents head-on has been nothing short of brilliant strategy.

Mail delivery - those companies want nothing to do with that. Plus both UPS and Fed Ex pay the post office to deliver a lot of smaller final-address deliveries as it's more cost efficient for them to have USPS make the final delivery on items that can fit in most mailboxes anyway. The last thing those companies want is to be paying their employees extra money for an item which only cost $1 to $2 to ship.

Yeah there is only probably 1-3 important pieces of mail a week. Mostly bills and junk besides that. Outside of the Xmas cards this time of year, and birthday cards throughout the year.

But the post office is only company that delivers military mail and packages. And PO Boxes which still account for a lot of rural addresses.

And then package delivery for USPS which will isn't at Fed Ex or UPS totals is still massive. If USPS went away, those two companies couldn't pick up the slack. There would still have to be a 3rd company. Package deliveries continue to explode at the expense of brick and mortar shops.

Companies have been interested in taking over the postal service, as long as they dont get straddled with the union who oversees some of the most useless people on the planet. So far, that has been a no-go.

You, umm.....should move out of this country since you hate it so much. And before you try and tell me you don't hate this country, ask yourself why you want us (America) to be a socialist utopia like the rest of the world is.

when I first moved out, those 'flyers' got crumpled over and over when out of TP......

today, it's become a pound of waste straight to the garbage.....

but muh tree huggers and unions......

you can't laugh at this shite enough....

having said all that, privatization has to occur with some form of oversight/checks/balances....

it could be as easy as using drug sniffing dogs at the hubs before hitting the rural sect while scanning a database en route.....I could easily design that system....

oh shite, that's too 1984, eh?

at some point it's going to happen......and it won't matter whether you like it or not....

We had a mini-lynching in my community recently over a lady who was stealing Xmas packages from people's houses. Turns out those Ring video cameras folks have are pretty decent and can get record quite a bit including the license plate of her car. Someone ran the plates and publicized her address on the Facebook community page. She's a resident here (or was - she may be in jail currently).

why???

they don't carry cash and you have no clue what you'd be stealing in bulk.....what are you going to do...pull up in a uhaul and end up with a shiteload of dildos.....

toss in the latest version of cam tech, and you immediately become the dumbererst gaylord focker on the planet making that move....
