They were ranked 5th, SEC Champs and went to a BCS Bowl. No other G5/nonBCS has beaten the SEC Champ in the modern era

We were 4-1 vs CUSA while we were in the MAC, against v1.0, ECU, Louisville twice, and split with Cincy twice. Not like CUSA were bowl worldbeaters back in the day, either.

We beat Bama in both '97 and '99 - think they were SEC champs in '99

at least USM HAS had some glory days....

Troy beat LSU straight up in Baton Rouge. They had the no.1 ranked red zone D in the nation and an overall top 20 D. It's no surprise that they rolled over UNT. Ga State was more of a surprise.

Us winning was a surprise too. LOL. Man, what a crazy game.
Marshall is a very good team and will be loaded next year.

It's all good. We'll see what next week brings.

Your first statement is true (for the most part), but the Sun Belt actually won more New Orleans bowls vs. CUSA before the realignment in 2013.

Yup, you've got to remember that back in the early 2000's, the bowl landscape was completely different than it is today.

And if you look at all games from the New Orleans' inaugural bowl in 2001 to the last bowl in 2012 before the realignment in 2013, Sun Belt has more wins than CUSA in their meetings.

I agree. I don't know why we don't support each other as a conference during bowl season. A win for one team is a win for all of us.
