Rough start for the Dukes in Game 3. CoC with a 2 run HR in the top of the 2nd and they are up 2-0 early on. This after they stranded runners on 2nd and 3rd to end the 1st.

CC gives up another HR to the same CoC player who now has 3 total HR on the season. Dukes down 3-0

Dukes win 5-3.

Dukes did well to come back and pick up the win late. Was a nail biter in the 7th as CofC loaded the bases with 3 singles and 1 out. Ground out first to catcher got the second out and saved a run and then the next hitter flied out to deep left center. Whew!!!

On to the next game tomorrow.

UNCW now up 6-0 on the Tigers in the top of the 7th and still batting. Tigers have only 2 hits for the game so far.

Dukes to face off against Hofstra tomorrow at 10:30 AM due to weather concerns.

Yes, indeed, I get off work at 7:00 am and off tomorrow, sounds like I need to head to Harrisonburg first thing. Thanks for the insight.

I learned something new last night. I have always known that if a ball hits the top of the wall and goes over, it is a home run. A ball was hit to deep center field, hit Kate's glove and then went over the wall. I thought it would be a double (watched too many games where a ball gets lost in the ivy at Wrigley Field) but it was called a home run. Kate could have probably played it off the wall and the batter would only have had a single or double, but in the end it did not haunt us. Kate made at least two other great plays in the field (including the last out with bases loaded) so I was glad she had a chance to get her confidence back.

As others have said, game is 10:30 this morning. Cheer for me!! There was a good crowd last night but I am not sure how many folks will be able to make a game that early.

Hofstra is coming into today's game with a huge chip on their shoulder and fire in their eyes after we smooshed them here for three a couple of weeks ago. Our folks looked a little nervous and tentative in parts of last night's game so I hope they got that out of their system and just play there game.

I wished for a replay to see it later when I got home from the game. I was sitting in the outfield bleachers and had a good view of the play. At least I thought I did. The part I did see clearly is that it bounced on top of the wall, literally in that 4 inch wide top. I did not see it hit her glove, but she was tracking it and I thought she was going to catch it. She appeared surprised that she didn't. It was the narrowest margined HR I have seen at a JMU softball game.

I agree about Hofstra wanting revenge..... but their body language while they watched our game changed significantly when we rallied and went ahead. They wanted to play Charleston. They wanted us to lose and go into the losers bracket. They would have been perfectly happy to win this thing and not play us. It ended up being: OH well, it was too good to be true, we gotta play JMU.

Why does that surprise you? Doesn't it make sense for Hofstra to want to have to beat you once and hope you lose to somebody else?

HU draws first blood with a 2-run HR in top 1st.

CC hits a three run home run to put Dukes up 3-2....still the bottom of the first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
