Installation of the infill, which is comprised of sand and rubber.

Quote:The sand and rubber infill is placed in layers over the pitch (between the turf fibres) using a mechanically-operated spreader controlling the desired fill rate.
In between layers the pitch is mechanically brushed and groomed to avoid trapping any fibres.
The brushing and filling continues until the recommended infill level is achieved.
On completion of the infill operation the depth of the infill is checked with a depth gauge over a 10m grid of the entire pitch.

Correct. The "speed" of the field can be changed by changing the sand/rubber mix. There are specific, regulated design mixes or "speeds" for high school, college and pro sports teams. The faster or harder field will have more sand and less rubber and is typical of pro sports. More rubber and less sand is slower and safer for high school sports.

RE: NEW stadium construction
I went by at lunch time today:
* seat stickers going on in west stand, looks like east stand stickers have been done
* its amazing how much sand is being spread, there has to be a 100 bags or more
* the endzone lettering is correct when seen at field level, the lens of camera #1 must have some effect
* the PA system has the potential of being very very loud, there are speakers everywhere
* still lots of work to be done

Are there parts of the stadium you can walk into (gameday building?) to see the construction progress? Or do you have access to the stadium?

Orrr is there a vantage point where you can see this stuff from outside the construction boundaries?

I won't be back in Norfolk til opening day so it doesn't matter for me but I'm just curious

The gameday building (endzone seats) is accessible through the second floor of the parking deck. They keep them open later than I expected, as they were open around 9 last night.

RE: NEW stadium construction
in all honesty, no one has access to the stadium, an event tonight is being altered because of continuing construction
ODU/SBC has been very accommodating by having a loose entry policy via the 2nd level red garage to the SEZ/Ainslie Building

the gameday building is getting a fresh coat of paint, a crew is really making headway on rails and I guess walls

I think there will be things still undone at kickoff Aug 31, with a 3 week break to right the wrongs so to speak
my guess a very limited package of bells and whistles on scrimmage night (24 August ...maybe) and 31 August and the full monty by the time ECU comes to SBB

Really getting excited now. I really like the font/coloring in the end zones.

Me too. If the powers that be can deliver a great game day experience...we just might have something here that excites an impressionable 14-18 year old student-athlete-prospect.

If you look closely at camera 2, at the top of the blue paneling above the seats, you can see small antennas spaced out. I'm assuming these are for wifi?

That makes sense. They are on the garage as well.
