That’s right. The height we are seeing on the west side includes the structure of the press box.

Looking at Cam #1 View #1 you can see just how up and close the new stadium is going to be to the field. Looking over by the old scoreboard you can see the bottom concrete structure taking form where the first row seats are.

It certainly appears from that Cam #! View #1, that the view of the existing scoreboard from the gameday building will be partially obstructed, unless is is just a camera angle illusion.

The latest pics from ODU Football facebook page show that bottom right of the existing scoreboard will definitely be hard to see once the stands go up and people are in that area. More incentive to get that new board up quick.

Look at all that room for an upper deck!

I drove by the site yesterday. The existing scoreboard will definitely be blocked to some degree at certain angles... we are definitely getting a new scoreboard.

Wasn't a new scoreboard and new turf a part of Phase 1?

I thought the short answer was YES. But they changed their mind and now the answer is NO.

I was told that the new turf was a POSSIBILITY but the new scoreboard was out for this phase because there were no funds to remove the old scoreboard and construct the new support structure to support the new scoreboard. So now it is tied tied to the new north end zone venue.

Now I get the reason why the scoreboard would not be replaced at this point but it looks like the field will have to be replaced.

From what i heard we are getting a new Turf, the old score board stays and well the renovated sides will have a bunch of LED ribbons and the next phase i.e. end zone and scoreboard will be done together whenever that might be and for our sake i hope its very soon if not we will be staring at that absolute eyesore.

That article is over a year old and much has occurred in that year. I actually think there was a later article last Fall with the same thoughts but that is also now pretty dated. I would imagine as construction continues, delays, weather, $$$, more may need to change but who knows. I will stick with what I have said recently that due to things happening the situation on replacinging the scoreboard is fluid and to a lesser extent replacing the field by this Fall is also in play. The entire plan for replacing the North Endzone has changed twice and is currently unknown.

A lot has changed since that article was written over a year ago. My information is about 2 months old. There is a possibility they will replace the field this year however they are making every effort to save the field.

The field wall on the west side is starting to go up. Very close to the corner of the endzone

Now you're starting to get a sense of the scale and just how on top of the field and closed in this new stadium will be. This has the potential to be super loud.

Rather than claim I have "inside" sources I figured it would be best to reach out to university officials and staff. I reached out to Harry this morning via email asking about the status of the scoreboard. He responded very quickly and stated that they are not yet ready to announce anything. There should be an announcement soon and "all is well." This is according to our greatest source of information. I dont understand why some of the posters on here are so obsessed with pretending to have "inside" sources.

Mr. BB isn't pretending. I was told the same thing a couple months back by my main ODAF contact. But things change and they have done their best to react to those moving parts.
