Correct and a HUGE Mistake because we will NEVER see it in 2020.

So i take it we won't be seeing any changes on the NEZ and the corners which boils down to the entire work being done to East and West stands.

From what I was told, for political purposes, we didn't want to go ask for approval to spend another 2.5 mm on the NEZ project after already asking for approval to boost the budget by 10mm. We thought it would have bad optics.

The 2019 project will be about 5 mm, but we already have the 2.5 mm for the scoreboard approved.

So yes, the final renderings released won't have the new NEZ included.

They should have asked for the 12.5M project vs the 10M. The 10M covers cost increases and the new "Big Donor" party area that the majority of the fans will not benefit from. Where the north end zone and new scoreboard would have benefited everyone. Again, little guy is forgotten. Sad.

I think its a strategic move esp with what ODU Admin has to deal with when asking for add'l funds in that snake pit of an assembly. I am fine with it as long as we have that scheduled for 2020. I see why Admin pushed for that Big Donor thing at a time of severe need for money. I am not sure how many add'l Suites/loges we will be getting but they better have more because those are the cash boxes.

Im ok with waiting a year, but I want ODU to come out say exactly what they are doing next year. None of this guessing crap. Give the fans and alumni what they want. Stop keeping us in the dark about everything.

I’m ok with 1 year, as long as it’s only ONE year. It does come across as another broken promise though.

This will not be the Phase 2 that Populous came out with. Think of a dumbed down version.

1 year in ODU time is 6 years in real time. 28,000 seats in ODU words means 22,000 seats. 07-coffee3 05-stirthepot 07-coffee3

I'd actually really like that. Help direct noise down on the field. Take advantage of our smaller crowd size, as we will never join the 45K+ club.

RE: NEW stadium construction
We all know how this goes. We will delay the new scoreboard and north end zone improvement for a year. Go to get bids next year, cost goes up, Need to restudy what can be done. Then need to raise more money. Then need to got back to GA for approval. I will be shocked if it happens in 2020. In the mean time we have a nice new stadium with an entertainment system / scoreboard that is basically a party killer. Sad... They need to do everything they can to impact the game day experience now because football will suck even more next year and you have to have something other than more leg room and new bathroom to keep fans coming back.

Our current scoreboard is pathetic. An impressive scoreboard is a reflection of status, so this news is extremely disappointing. The status of the Ted was dramatically improved with the HD scoreboard. It’s worth the money and for recruiting.

Ding Ding Ding !! We have a winner !! Scoreboards are a visual and can create the hype that is needed to develop a great game atmosphere. Poor decision.

Based on how crowded the stands looked after halftime Saturday, I'm not sure 20,000 seats is overkill.

I just don't really agree with this line of thinking. Every school is going to have attendance problems when they are 3-7 or whatever we are. We probably would've sold 30,000 seats for Va Tech, and they are on the schedule for like 10 more years. It goes both ways - neither what you saw Saturday nor the Va Tech game represent what an average day should/will be.
