RE: NEW stadium construction
This should have been the plan from the beginning. This program will grow and so will it's fan base and stadium.

We don't need this right now....

I think the fault belongs to ODU for putting out that ridiculous survey asking fans what they want in a new stadium. It just unnecessarily raised fan expectation. The renditions didn't help either. You needed more leg room, better concessions, restrooms and a press box. That's it.

I'm not sure why ODU officials had to travel down to Boca Raton. It's an aluminum stadium. What's there to see?

They Bentley'd the stadium.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

This is worst case scenario. It would be better to leave our current stadium in place.

That looks like crap.

Well, honestly, there's no reason, in year 4 of FBS, we shouldn't have the ESPN Top 100 in their entirety playing for Dabo Swinney, Lane Kiffin, and Scott Frost, in a 150,000-seat version of Lane Stadium.

01-wingedeagle

I'm with you: it's a process, not a light switch. There are most definitely things I wish would improve at a more hurried pace, but as long as things continue in an upward arc I'm content to watch the program advance.

Those who expect too much too soon are sure to be disappointed at every turn.

We were promised a waterfront stadium at 35k then 30k then 28-30k then a new stadium at current site at 28k, then 25k, then a renovation at 22k, now a downgrade stadium with toilets and better concessions at 20k. Disappointed is an understatement. I want my money back. Granted, it isn't much, but I think everyone is entitled to their money back. This was outright fraud, by definition.

XACLY. Take pride in it, promote it as toughness, build a blue collar base, save the money, and build that waterfront stadium in 10 years if football is still a [popular] thing.

I hope someone makes Wood aware of this thread. The admin needs to know how the fans feel about this. We are the ones expected to donate, buy tickets and go to the games. Hopefully our thoughts matter.

If he is reading, just give everyone their money back, go back to the CAA, keep the stadium as is, and get basketball in the A10 so we can play VCU, GMU, GW, and UR 2-3 times per year. Also resign please.

If this is the best we can do, then I'm in the keep FF camp until we can afford not to do it half ass.

The next announcement, continuing the trend, is we will be playing at City Stadium in Richmond.

I don't remember seeing any drawings for a waterfront stadium. I do recall stuff that would have possible water views though.

I don't use twitter or facebook, but time to post articles and videos like this on the ODU and University Leadership pages along with this current 20k thing.

Sure plans change I get that. Could better spend that $50M elsewhere.
Koch Hall was suited to be replaced anyway. Turn that into a bathroom facility, or a locker room complex and buy the fancy score board.

Wtf happened? They spent tons of money and time with Populous, who costed things out and came up with a much nicer (and bigger) plan that supposedly fit within the budget. As is often the question for me around our athletic program, where did the money go?

Plenty of land over by Next/District that they could move the stadium to if they want to go erector only. Can get 30k there pretty easily all in 1 shot.
