They have combined for 9 national titles since 1991. Kansas has 2 since 89, one of which they fluked out on against Memphis.
Wake Forest has had #1 regular season teams in the last 20 years, NCSU, Davidson, and Charlotte haven't been horrible.
Jesus I hope Wichita St wins it all, but the state of Kansas hoops doesn't stack up with NC, not even close.
I think the general question is WTF Kansas, Duke, UNC or Davidson have to do with the conversation.
Your fan posted this "If you get bored tonight, I'd encourage you to watch teams that are good at basketball for a reference point. "
As if I didn't know what good basketball is and I live on tobacco road lol.
His point was that we don't compete with KU for the Top 30 recruits, but we get very good players and can compete and beat them on the basketball court.
You have had a sensational 5 or 6 year run with one coach. Will you be Gonzaga? Or will Marshall leave at some point and fade away. The recruiting gap is narrowed due to the blue bloods and their early NBA entries.
If Marshall had left a few years ago I think WSU might have faded just as so many others did when the coach that took them to the top left. George Mason is a great example of this happening when Larranaga left after they made the 06' Final Four.
I think WSU has moved past that recently and the move to the American is a huge part of that. The floor is now higher for us which I don't necessarily think would have been the case if had stayed in the MVC. When Marshall eventually retires or moves on WSU will be a very good job and we should have no trouble attracting an excellent replacement.

IF Marshall ever leaves it will be for a retirement job. Meaning, somewhere near South Carolina where he can live out his coaching and spend half his time relaxing on a beach with very little fear of being fired. I would be shocked if he ever took on a rebuilding P5 job of any sort or a P5 job at any predominately football school. The list is pretty short.

I guess ECU fans are done overhyping their players. They have now resorted to overhyping D2 players. Or is Campbell a D1?

+1, hoping the post-Lebo renaissance has legs for the balance of the non-con.

When you're the current flagship of a conference, it's natural to want the dregs to improve; it's also acceptable to throw a little shade towards the competition, which in this case is Cincy.
Posters of any school who make inane comments are free game and will be handled with impunity. A normal part of the disciplinary process is to disparage said poster's school. This is by no means a blanket disparagement and should be interpreted as a focused attack on the intended target. Following this single rule would save many in the peanut gallery from becoming victims of collateral damage.

For the good of this thread continuing, I implore one of the Wichita State posters to go full oasispirate and post a hypothetical about how bad ass Wichita State football would be this year if only they had a team and every 4-star recruit from within 300 miles of Wichita.

We really dropped the ball by not offering Scott Frost...would have been the the best in the league, easy.

But what, really, is the point of winning a conference of cupcakes?
Nothing, I have been told round these parts.

Fair point, Shockers and Golden Knights lost the same number of football games this season and we both have the same seat for the playoffs.
Still, it was right there for the taking.

Here's some of that 4-star talent... isn't/wasn't this a basketball thread?
