"These people?"
It was two random dutch citizens, teenagers at that. Let me know when "PreCrime" is up and running here in America.
And yet you expect our President to be omniscient and know that the information he was given that this was an immigrant was false. It's not as if he was enacting policy. He made a tweet.
I'd certainly prefer that he not, but its not an issue other than 'political correctness'... and while what he's saying may not apply to this situation, he is expressing a sentiment commonly held. Since he's taking no action on these people, what difference does it make?
If you think he's telling a false narrative about a problem, then you can call him on that. I don't think he is.
That aside, amazing that you can't see the forest for the trees.
We look back at most such acts and we find all sorts of indicators and opportunities to make a positive impact that were missed.
Only an idiot would assume that trying to be proactive in identifying and addressing common precursors to violent events was a bad thing and/or was the equivalent of arresting them for what they hadn't done.
Where are you on the second amendment? I assume you'd similarly allow unfettered access to guns and explosives of ANY kind for people that hadn't yet committed a crime, right?
