People at my work have chuckled at me for years because I refuse to meet with a woman work colleague without either another person in the room, in a glass walled conference room, or with the door open.

I was burned a while ago with a false allegation. Thankfully it was pretty quickly shown to be false and the accuser was put on a PIP, then left on her own.

Don't take the chance, men. Tread lightly especially in the workplace. Not a joke.

I unofficially implemented the “Nixon rule” about 28 minutes after we started our little enterprise some 20+ yrs ago.

Right off the bat we had what I considered inappropriate (or more likely just gonna be trouble) language/ behavior with the other 20 + something YO males and the bevy of young, mostly very attractive fellow employees and conference attendees we would see and hang out with nearly every month, or more often.

Nixon rule- no one met alone, always a third party in attendance, and if on “official” property, ie Company digs or a hotel on our dime, it was gonna be recorded. Audio only back in the day, but that would most often suffice, esp back then.

All this crap has only gotten exponentially worse in this current climate of “I AM SO OoooFFENDED, YOU HELD THE DOOR OPEN FOR ME!!!! Crap.

Sooner we can get a collective slap upside the head and a Get Your **** Together! The better off we’ll all be.

Right now I look out for or anticipate some kind of lawsuit from someone every week... ridiculous, but there it is.

Sad!

How about Pence /Xe ticket in ‘20? Ha

Based on his tweet today on Lauer (calling him a great guy and that it was sad this happened to him - plus he said news is a flirty business) - I'd lay a paycheck on Geraldo Rivera.

Lol

Perhaps, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone all that much.

But Geraldos been a pretty well known womanizer “man about town” for close to 50 yrs now. Hardly a bar to measure anything.

Not looking, but what wife # is he currently on? 4,6? Something up there.

Difference is, he’s admitted his fault, failures, transgressions whatever anyone wants to call them. Not sat in judgement reprimanding and pontificating about others behavior while locking young interns and associate producers in his secluded office...

But, I guess Bubba normalized this kind of thing 20 some yrs ago, so should surprise no one.

Matt Lauer on sexual assault allegations: 'I am truly sorry'

Matt Lauer issued a statement in the wake of his firing from the "Today" show, which was announced on Wednesday following a "detailed complaint" of sexual misconduct against the news anchor. More women have since spoken out about Lauer's alleged inappropriate behavior.

In a statement read by his former "Today" co-hosts, Lauer said, “There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt I am truly sorry.

"As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly."

Wah wah wah. He'll take his hundreds of millions of dollars and retreat somewhere comfortable for a few years before popping up as an anchor on MSNBC.

The title of this thread says it all. If Hillary were President, none of these sexual harassment cases would have gone forward.

Hillary actually says in her first words that, "Matt, I'm glad your doing this!"

It's her first words.

Script.

What is the difference between Andy Lack and George Stephanopoulos. Selling the "goods".

Both need to go.

Ellen needs to move over to GMA as the lead. Everyone else on GMA is good regarding "setting the tone".

Without specifics it is meaningless.

If he raped someone, the only appropriate apology is turning himself into the police and confessing.

Matt Lauer Breaks Silence, Apologizes For ‘Pain I Have Caused’

He’s just sorry he got caught.

Quote:NBC News’ ‘Today’ show released the statement from the former co-host at the top of Thursday’s show.
Matt Lauer has broken his silence on the sexual harassment and assault claims made against him yesterday.

The former Today co-host released the following statement that was read by Savannah Guthrie at the top of Thursday’s show: “There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly. Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job. The last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. It’s been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people I love. I thank them for their patience and grace.”

Everyone agrees that to be left-wing and liberal is to be a better, more caring and compassionate human being. It proves what an enlightened and open-minded person you are.

Except for all all the sexual assaulting and all.

This is the Variety article. Parts were quoted by others yesterday.

This part is bad for NBC:
"...Several women told Variety they complained to executives at the network about Lauer’s behavior, which fell on deaf ears given the lucrative advertising surrounding “Today....”

Mostly the article was a lot thinner than I expected. I know a number of executives who can close their door from their desk. I knew one who had it 30 years ago (and it had nothing to do with sexual harassment).

RE: Matt Lauer Fired From NBC For Inappropriate Sexual Misconduct
There is absolutely nothing specific about any retaliation by anyone who said no which would be a serious problem. It talks about consensual relationships from those who were afraid to say no. So if a man pursues a relationship with someone at work who says yes, that is a problem?

I've got no sympathy for those who were afraid to say no. Or for anyone who said no and never got bothered again. Or for those who never complained.

Now the dropping his pants bit should have gotten him fired. And NBC should have dealt with complaints. But most of this is bs piling on.

I have been after the snowflakes football players for raping for several years now. I have been on message for a long time against these sex perverts for a long time. I went after the kneeling NFL QB Jamies Winston after he raped that college girl, and now he sexually assaulted a female UBER driver. These football players are hypocrites.
