Not a nice thing to say about a guy making almost a half mil per year.

Don't automatically assume he'll follow the same path as his father. Their season will end either this Saturday or next Saturday.

I can't find how much Vince Kehres is currently making, but his 1st 4 years as head coach of Mount Union, he went 55-4. (2013-2016)

2017 is 14-0, with the Purple Raiders beating Wisconsin Oshkoh 43-40 in the DIII National Semifinals.

Could he be making $200k per year? $300k per year? $400k per year? The only thing I could find is his dad was making $125k/yr in 2004.

Which of the 3 D1 jobs gets filled 1st? SMU, Louisana Lafayette, or Kent State? Who do the people on this board want KSU to hire? Marcus Freeman, Scott Shafer, Vince Kehres, Lee Owens, Mike Yurcich, Mike Houston, or someone else?

My guess is VK is making between $80-100k. LK was making his salary in a dual AD/Head Coach role.

We are in no hurry. Nobody is stealing the guy Joel ends up deciding on. When he and the search firm have it nailed down it will happen.

RE: Coaching Candidates
Mount Union came back from 35-10 deficit, I think it was, to win yesterday. They can talk to him after next week's D III championship game. In this day and age, can a coach without D I experience make that leap from D III to FBS, even to a mid-major? There was a time, long ago, when even a high school coach could, but not anymore. I don't know, just asking.

dannyb - are you saying we're in no hurry because the guy has already been chosen and we're waiting, or because no other program would be interested in whatever guy we choose? The latter would be wholly depressing, but not surprising.

I am saying the latter but it's not depressing. It's just the reality of a MAC school needing a coach versus the other schools that need one.

Buffalo's coach, Lance Leipold, was previously HC at D-III Wisconsin-Whitewater, where his teams won five NCs.

His only D-I/FBS experience was as a GA at Wisconsin.

I really thing D2 or D3 is the way to go...someone that has HC experience and above a 500 record...BUT as was stated earlier, Is KSU REALLY committed to football? or just being average or below and using the team to play for the athletic budget...3 player have left or planning to leave 1 a true freshman 2 upper class men (kicker and Lineman) plan to us the graduate transfer rule.

Thanks, MajorHoople. For what it matters (and it may not matter at all), Kehres has spent no time at all other than at Mount, including as a player.

Jonathan Moore from FLA, had something on Twitter with his release papers...

Only two coaching vacancies left now that SMU hired Sonny Dykes. With the lack of news I have to believe they are targeting a coach still playing in one of the 3 playoffs.

Yeah, I think you’re right. It’s Nick Saben!

Would we lower our high standards to hire Saban? I mean he's only won 5 national titles and 1 MAC title. I feel we should be able to get someone a little bit better.

Saban... only lasted 1 year in the MAC, had losing record in NFL, and hasn't coached at the MAC level in 27 years. We can do better.

I think we should shoot for the moon and offer Coach Klein from South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs. The team lost 40 straight games before he turned a waterboy into an All American. He also led the team to a Bourbon bowl victory. I watched a documentary about the team over the weekend.
