Quote:We have resourced this program at a top 10 and 15 level nationally,” said University of Memphis president David Rudd. “We expect to be at that level, period. We have resourced it that way for a reason. Historically it’s a top 10 program, we expect it to perform at that level and we’ve resourced it at that level. Part of my responsibility is asserting that expectation and standard, and that is the standard.

Wow - those were some strong comments

I’ve been and am still a Tubby supporter but the line has been drawn in the sand

The most encouraging part is Dr Rudd would not make such a bold statement (IMHO) without first clearing the concept with our alpha boosters. It may mean they are willing to dig deeper into their pockets to cashier Tubby sooner rather than later, if needed.

The money is already wasted. You can't go from not able to sign local 3*s to top 10 in 2-3 years.

Tubby may not be able to get it done, but there are plenty of great coaches out there who can.

They've been out there our last two coaching hires, but we didn't get them. Is someone else in charge, now? 'Cause if that's the case, I might go along with this "let's replace the coach" thing. Otherwise, it's the definition of insanity.

Kind of interesting that Pooh and Esposito were not there because they were on the road recruiting. Maybe there has been a talk to the Tub about what he needs to do.

I beg to differ on your assumptions that this cant turn around quick. Two good high level players brought in by a new coach, or maybe even tubby would do it..

That is the catch, two good high level players. The Tub has shown he will not put in the work to get one much less two good high level players. He will sit back and wait on players to come to him and beg for a spot on his team which means players that arent good enough for other high level offers.

I don’t think your pontification is very exemplary of the realist you claim to be.
It may mean that, it may mean something else entirely. You can’t usher in what you want or the other but I’m sure you realize that.

I love the idea of the scanner to enter as long as they require them to scan it to leave

This way you can keep track of who is putting in extra work and essentially require it.

Only way boosters would be be willing to cash Tubby out this quickly is if they picked Tubby out if they will have complete control over hiring the next coach

Don’t they have de facto control now?

They were out recruiting because so far they have completely whiffed on the 2018 class. Its a disaster.

Top 10 facility
Top 10 coaches salary
2018 123rd recruiting class
2017 49th recruiting class
5th place 2017 AAC (7th best conference)
46th in attendance 2017

Something is not adding up.

Not impossible in basketball

Heck it is still possible to make the tourney this year... Highly unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility
