For all the complaining about ESPN deal, I love the fact that I can sit in my living room with a Roku or AppleTV box and watch every MAC basketball game on a big screen. Last night I was able to switch back-and-forth among three different games. I remember too well the days when you used to have to follow the games on Game Tracker and sometimes you would only get updates every 10 or 15 minutes, if that. Now, you can watch almost every MAC game, men or women, plus soccer, volleyball etc. For people who aren’t near their alma mater and can rarely get to campus (that’s most alums) it keeps them connected in a way that was not possible previously.
And all that said, last night was not a good one. 0-3 with none of the games close in the last few minutes.
CMU managed to stay 6+ pts behind for most of the 2nd half after leading for most of the first half and just couldn’t close the gap. BG mostly led until the 8 mi. mark and then SD made a run BG could not answer and won by nine. S. Carolina took command before halftime, and WMU struggled to get the deficit into single digits a couple of times before USC pulled away. The Gamecocks were the best team I saw tonight. Outside of Wilder, the Broncos were just outmanned.
Tonight, two interesting games: Wright St. @ Miami and Green Bay at NIU. Also, Toledo hosts a lower division team.
We had two several-minute periods toward the end of each half where we couldn't buy a bucket. However, I liked our defensive intensity and hustle. This might be a better team than last season, albeit probably a lower-scoring one.

Not to be that guy, but I feel like we got hosed on a few calls. Not sure it would have made a difference, but losing 72-65 made me feel like it would have. CMU looked solid but UM looked poor in the 1st half.

NIU up 42-29 over UW-GB at halftime.
NIU had its first game of the season postponed due to condensation on the basketball court so this is our actual first game of the season now.

Miami takes down an experienced Wright State team with a late comeback, wins 73-67 in OT. First 2-0 start for us in literally ten seasons lol.

Buffalo defeats Jacksonville State tonight 81-76. Good win over a team that will probably win the OVC this season. They defeated Richmond by 30 on the road Monday, so a solid mid-major win for the Bulls as they improve to 2-0.

Kenpom has UB ranked #153 and Jacksonville St. #120.
I'd love to hear the logic from him and his overrated site.

Ratings are useless until about 2/3rds of the season. Just not enough data points. Not worth getting upset over.

It might as well be Christians vs. the lions: the Trailblazers lost to Walsh Monday night, 100-58.
I hear that a couple of Roman senators were exposed in a betting scandal after that one.

42-38 Clemson at the half. Crippled Bobcats are hanging in!
Party's over but it was fun while it lasted! Ohio now down 12 at the first media break of the second half.

EMU looking good so far, and their inside game is fierce, but is there enough shooting to compete with teams that can knock down 3s over the EMU zone?

Probably not. We have a bunch of guys that are comfortable shooting threes, but I don't think any of them will be over 36 or 37% at the end of the year.
Our strength, yet again, will be in transition, where our athletes can attack the basket. Or when our guards beat their man off the dribble and get the ball to Thompson. If we get into shooting contests with other teams, we will probably lose quite a bit of games.

If this is your strength than the EMU-UB game should be quite entertaining because that is exactly the way the Bulls want to play as well. Replace Thompson with Perkins

NIU beats St. Francis (Ill.), a NAIA school, 70-60. Not sure if we were playing the school or St. Francis himself. From what I understand he's pretty good at driving to the basket.

1. Aren't we in week two now?
2. Miami with its first 3-0 start since the Szczerbiak Sweet 16 season.
3. Between Fordham and LIU we've taken down two of the NYC boroughs!
