For that to happen, Toledo still has to get upset again, and NIU has to beat two teams they could not beat last year. At this time I just worry about the Huskie games. There is nothing the Huskies can do about Toledo now, but winning their last three should easily put the Huskies in a bowl game.

This evaluation of Childers is much more an indictment of coaching. Childers has the best arm of any QB on the roster, it just is hard when you run one deep route which has no chance of ever being completed because defenders are step for step with all NIU receivers. John Elway could not be successful in NIU's offense right now.
Santa was completing passes downfield with the same receivers (minus Chad Beebe).
Perhaps they might use Santa against CMU?
I hope. I personally think that Santa is the best of the bunch. His judgement will get better and his mistakes fewer. He moved the ball well against SDSU. The picks....well, that was an issue.

Our offense is anemic, but WMU is nothing like they were last year. (Can we still call them the boat rowers?)
CMU....well, they always seem to have our number, but this is the MAC. I didn't expect the Golden Turds to lose by 28 points either.

Going 9-3 should put the Huskies in a pretty decent bowl game (decent for a MAC team, that is).

Yep. I'm guessing the Humanitarian or International.

Agree completely Huskie_John.
Priority #1 a victory against BSU w/o any significant injuries.
Priority #1b maybe play a few QB's to mess with CMU's preparations against us.
Priority #2 Beat CMU. Then no MAC West team will have a winning record against Rod Carey's NIU FB program.
With six wins + I think a Bowl game will most likely happen.
All NIU can do now is win one game at a time w/o injuries.

I disagree. I think they will more likely end up in the Silicion Valley Football Classic, or the GMAC Bowl.

One more thing. Be careful what you wish for. If Toledo chokes and the Huskies back into Detroit, then the Huskies would most likely have to face an Ohio team that soundly beat Toledo, whom the Huskies could not beat.

Different matchups though. Ohio can’t really throw, Toledo could. I don’t see teams who can’t throw (WMU, Ohio) giving NIU’s defense a lot of trouble.

Yeah, we have the 10th ranked rushing defense in terms of yards per game. Strangely enough, Ohio is 11th. Toledo is 92nd after getting torched by Ohio. Regardless, any NIU/Ohio game would likely be a LOS ground game battle and then whichever QB can hit on a few big plays.

That wouldn't bode well for us either.

Probably not...but looking at the Ohio-Toledo game transitively for an NIU-Ohio game probably doesn't work very well.

True. Once again it will depend on whether we can get a lot of pressure on Rourke. We didn't against Woodside and got shredded. Not saying Rourke is as good of a passer, but he might not have to be.
