RE: ***Official Memphis vs LeMoyne-Owen Game Thread*** (11/2)
Even in my 20 win prediction, I have us losing to AL. Hope not & think we have a shot, just a little early in the season to have all the new guys playing well together. Will be disappointed if we don't make this a good game.

That said, I don’t view this team as a rebuilding year, I think our talent is better than that. I base it on mostly what I saw at the exhibition game. I liked what I saw. If i saw it another way I would say so. But I really like Davenport and Brewton. There was, in my opinion, lots to like.
Now of course if we lose 10 to 15 games, I will say I was wrong. And being right isn’t the most important thing to me. I honestly am giving my thoughts about what I think we can be. I really like the talent we have. I’m still looking at the schedule and will give a prediction before the Alabama game, I actually wanted to wait till after the Alabama game to predict our record, simply because I wanted another opportunity to see these guys play. But I will post my prediction soon and if I see something after watching the Alabama game that makes me want to change a few games I will.
Joe1, I am with you in that I was very encouraged by what I saw at the Lemoyne-Owen game. I'm not that into making a W-L prediction, but I think that we may have a pretty good season. I saw Lou Strasberg last week while picking up my basketball tickets and his quote was "our basketball team is going to be better than people think".
What bothers me is that so many Tiger fans appear to have a vested interest in the Tigers doing poorly this season. Some gave up their season tickets "until the Tigers do better". Some hated the Tubby hire, have been extremely vocal about it, and want to be proven correct. A few still love Pastner so much they can't stomach Tubby. Winning is the only thing that will cure that, I suppose.
i intend to be there for the Tigers at all home games and pull for them to win. I can't help what others do.
Your second paragraph is sad to read if indeed all of that is true. But your last sentence in that same paragraph is correct...if we win the fans will come back, and maybe new ones will take the place of the super bitter ones. But people can’t stay away when you’re winning. Again, I’ve said this once already, if one likes Tiger basketball, I encourage them to go to the games because you will like what you see. Period.
And clearly, I’m more optimistic than many posters here. But I really like what I saw. The talent is there and I have to go with what I’m seeing and believe. I’m certainly not going to put down double digit losses when I don’t think we will lose that many because several here are doing so. We are deep and we have talent.
If the expectation for the season is less than making the tournament I would call that a rebuilding year. If not making the tourney is not a rebuilding year than we have lowered expectations

I did not see the comparisons elsewhere in one place. In this particular post, I have no future comment.

What would you have us gather from your select comparisons?

I have us losing to Louisville, at Cincinnati, at UCF, at Tulsa, at SMU, at UConn
Conference record of 13-5, good for 3rd or 4th place
Win two games in the conference tournament to finish 27-7 or 26-8
Time to adjust those predictions bud.

How about 14-17, bud? Then one win in the conference against ECU or South Florida to make it 15-17.

As long as Tubby is canned I don't care what their record is.

Right now we couldn’t win 25 games with 100 games scheduled.

whoa.
"We are bigger, faster, deeper and more athletic than last year. In addition we have balance in the roster composition, that is we have size inside, which we did not have and we have guards and wings that can really play."

Southern somebody. I forget now.
After the game, a few fans were in borderline ecstatic states.
Some were even calling out posters by name--- Saluki, 'snowflake', 83 and Stammers .
Our Players are talented! Tubby will avenge the nay sayers!
'Admit your wrongness, snowflake (confess your sins)' was already ringing out.
Man, I still don't get why people were so intent on circling the wagons around that guy, after one horrible blow up season and no recruits.

Probably a lot of it was hope mixed with the Lawson family being such world class douches. I know I hoped and prayed the guy would turn this misfit collection into something great, because what other choice was there? He's not going to get fired before the end of the season, at least, so where was the value in dumping on them after one game?

No dumping going on.
Just 'umping' with a p.
The attacks on certain posters were ongoing, so no biggie there either.
