Dino Babers or Scott Frost?
If you are one of the elite programs looking for a coach...who do you go after?

Tough choice. I think either would be great, but Babers has a far better track record.

Neither, Frost hasn't been a coach long enough & Babers is a good system based coach who needs support & time to implement his system.

Pretty much, the difference is Kelly is a established big name coach who also has NFL experience.

He wasn't before he took over at Oregon. Babers has more HC experience than Kelly did.

Chip Kelly was successful at Oregon, where he inherited a good roster and a program that Mike Bellotti (and Rich Brooks before him) had built up well over many years. Don't know that I'd hand Chip a team with a thin roster that needs a ton of rebuilding.

I think you need to add Mike Bobo into the question.

Somebody already familiar with our recruiting area. The catch up time for figuring out your recruiting area and building relationships with high school coaches doesn't even get rolling until year 3 if the coach doesn't already know the area.
This is why so many red hot coaches at lower tier programs can't make a successful jump. They want the money and exposure but usually drag their staff with them when they leave. If they move to an area where none of them has much recruiting experience they are usually toast before they even have a chance to establish themselves.
That's why if I'm Tennessee I at least give Fuente a call. It's also why Fleck will probably show improvement by next year. He knows the area.
That doesn't make them the best coach, but it may make them the best choice.

Interestingly enough... UCF was rumored to be going after Bakers before hiring Frost. We are pretty pleased with our AD's track record for coaching hires.. He landed us a high quality basketball coach as well.
Sad to the question... Baker beat the number 2 tea in the. Country.. So I think he is the logical choice.

I think both will be getting calls. Frost will be getting calls from the SEC and Nebraska. He is soon going to be a rich man!

Cuse if they are smart...will renegotiate the contract over next weekend (Bye Week).
They need to spend some TV money

That would be the smart move. I really have no idea what Syracuse sports budget is. The really don't get that much coverage in the heart of ACC country.

They make a crap ton of money...both teams *FB and BB) turn a profit.

Frost going to UCLA would be interesting. You see how he has gone to a area that he had not recruited much and has been very successful. Can you imagine going to a school that recruits are in your back yard and have some familiarity with. If I was Frost. that would be my choice.

If the Vols hope to beat terms like Alabama and Georgia, they should probably hire someone like Moses, because they aren't parting those red seas on defense with that offense...
