RE: Battle For The East Lead: USF @ ECU (Noon ET, CBSSN)
What in the hell happened at ECU? They used to have a good defense every year; today that was the worst defense I have seen live in a long time. worse than FIU. Every single play had multiple missed tackles.

So good. I particularly like the way they forced your punter to kick the ball into the back of the head of your own player, and the pick 6 off the chest of your reciever. Pure skill.
You barely beat a team this week that we destroyed last week and we are the terrible team. Roflmao ?????
USF has a good team but it's near impossible to say how good and you're 5 games in. The schedule has been softer than an uncooked pancake.

Fed up with the athletics department administration and the chancellors head could be on the block for allowing it to get extended 5 years with a raise to boot--and with a budget cut for the other boot.
This is getting as dark as the Logan/Hamrick/Muse/JT era.... when I hear sirens in the area on Saturday night I'm thinking someone involved with ECU athletics got abducted or had their house burned down.

Well, we know Houston ain't going undefeated, and didn't you guys just barely schlep by a Temple team we routed by 30? Yes, I think you did. So mind your own store, stay in your lane.
The best player in the country took a cheap shot to his knee, and had to leave the game in the first quarter. Not that it matters, I never claimed we were any good.
S. Florida is terrible, and the worst schedule ever isn't enough to disguise that fact. If SDSU wins out, all 13-0 (long shot with that D) is going to get you is the Birmingham bowl. Sad!
"Terrible" USF Bulls have only won 10 games in a row and 23 our of last 27 games. That's right, 23-4 in last 27 games played. All while averaging 45 points a game over the course of 2 seasons.
The end.
You play the equivalent of a I-AA schedule. A horrific AAC East, 4 OOC patsies (of course, the S. Florida way — just like your baseball team), and you avoid the top team in the West. The last time you played a truly good team (Florida State), you got blown out.

Keep rolling Bulls
Congrats Bulls. Keep winning and hopefully our conference will get the NY6 spot.
Our offense is showing some signs of life but this is the worst defense I've seen in 27 years.
Tough times for ECU.

Total F up by the new AD firing Ruffin McNeill. Now we've got a newbie coach learning on the job. He obviously is in over his head.
This is what can happen when you make a controversial move and gamble on an unproven coach.

Good game Bulls. Your fans (and yes, some did show up) were pretty cool.
I appreciated the refs calling the game clean until we were 3 scores down and didn't really have a chance to catch up. I know we're all collectively trying to better ourselves as a conference, so 61-31 isn't any worse than 48-31 to me if it means SDST doesn't pass USF for the bowl.
Takeaway: We have zero defense. We need more than one stop a game if we're going to beat anyone except UConn.

Total downward spiral since the move was made.
Here we go again! We can sit here a debate if firing Ruff was the right call or not and it won't do any good (each side has strong stats to support their arguement), he's gone, deal with it. Rest easy in knowing Compher's fate is now tied to Mo and vice versa, if Mo fails Compher is gone. If Compher is fired, Mo is gone.
Here is the plain truth our defense is starting 7 current or former walk-ons. Tom Brady or Peyton Manning could walk through that door right now and we still wouldn't win more than 3 games because they would have to score on every possession and that isn't happening no matter who is at the helm.

Pretty much. We are in a major rebuilding phase and are very limited talent wise...especially in the trenches. Mo may not be the right guy. I do know though...that as much as I loved Ruff as a person?...after Reilly left for Oklahoma that 2/3 of the coaching went with him. Mo is working with the mess he was left. He has some decent talent scattered about..but..there are just too many holes to fill to be competitive at this point. Why do people think he brought in so many JUCOs and grad transfers?

And as for Mo learning on the job, I would rather have him learn while he is recruiting to his/our needs than learn while wasting a stacked roster.

This game will be similar to the Virginia Tech and West Virginia game- with the second string playing much of the second half. The Bulls will find their offense and confidence to build toward the conference championship game.
Now that ECU and USF are rivals, the teams should play for the Civil ConFLiCT trophy. With a little white-out, we can make it the RECUrved HaUSFrau trophy. After the game, we can leave it on the field and pass it to the next American school.
