Will Houston put in the 3rd string quickly?

It was a non-contact injury that occurred in the second quarter. This isn't the coach's fault, no matter how hard you'll try to spin it as such. It's simply bad luck.

There are no fears other than schor going down.

The 2nd best team in the CAA is our second string.

We still have the 10th ranked Scoring Defense in the country and that's WITH the trash time scores and 21 points given up just by Schor alone.

T-10th, 12.7 ppg allowed.
5th ranked total defense, 209.3 ypg. The best ranked defense among teams to have played 3 games this season.
T-11th ranked rush defense, 56.7 ypg.
15th ranked pass defense, 152.7 ypg.

Don't take this as I want Brian to go down, but as it is with Cardon and his replacements, we have Cole, who I thought looked really strong yesterday. I am simply amazed at how deep we are.

Your second sentence is spot on. I honestly cannot imagine what is going on in Rocco's head trying to game plan for when the Dukes come to town. That brain is spinning.

So very true, I know he wants to beat us more than any team he ever faces.

I think Rocco keeps changing schools so he can see how many different ones he can lose to us with.

Really not wanting to appear insensitive or ask anyone to divulge anything inappropriate, but was just curious if Trai's father's passing was anticipated (long-term illness, etc) or if this was a total shock to him? I lost my dad at about the same age and although it's never easy just hoping he had at least some form of peace and closure with the whole thing. You're in our prayers Trai.

completely agree. I will say that after I went back and watched the tape, i'm not so sure the pick was Schor's fault. not positive, but it looked like Stapleton cut his slant route in front of the defender and Schor was maybe (?) expecting him to go behind. if he had done that, probably would have at least had a chance to defend the interception, if not catch it himself. i'm wondering how many of these issues (this year) are due to a less experienced WR group. not sure, but the turnovers need to stop soon.

Houston said they knew for about a month, it was an illness. Very sad.

My wife watched the after game press conference and I think Coach Houston said that Trai's Dad had been ill for a month or so. Any way you slice it one is never really prepared for something like this. Hearts go out to Trai and his family.

Also to Cardon, poor guy can not seem to catch a break.

I know this thread is now old news, but wanted to give a shout-out pat to the students and the entire stadium for being quiet for the offense. I mean it was very quiet. And they were loud for our defense. I credit social media for getting the word out and especially The Breeze for printing a great article with an eye catching headline, because it worked.

It was definitely an improvement in that regard. I think we could've been louder on defense, especially prior to 3rd down. We kind of forgot the loud on defense part until we forced NSU's first false start, then we forced a second consecutive false start due to the noise. That is how we can intimidate opponents and really make bridgeforth a miserable place for teams to have to play.

Crowd noise dulled the past two weeks as the game went along, for obvious reasons.

agreed, I think the crowd has been great for two games. even when the students were yelling on offense during the ETSU game, the noise on defense was pretty good. I've been impressed. sounds GREAT on TV, also.

on Percy, I went back and watched all of his runs again last night. he is really talented, and it's not just the level of competition. he made a couple of open field cuts that were nasty. in terms of sheer ability, I don't think there is a huge drop-off after our veteran RBs. the biggest difference is that he will benefit from a year in the weight room.

RE: Norfolk St In-Game
Schor's first couple this season were trying to throw over someone (once when they were right in his face) and a defender just happened to be in position where the ball fell. He needs to keep his eye on his passing lanes a little better and be fine with just taking a sack if someone is right on top of him. And then if you're running, make sure you protect the ball.

Just went back and watched the second half of the game (had to leave early for dinner plans on Saturday). I continue to be impressed by our younger players. Percy was a lightening bolt. He obviously benefited from an absolutely gassed defense, but he was still knocking off 5-15 yard runs every play. He was also doing a great job of breaking tackles for a Fr. The kickoff return for a TD was the result of not staying in their lanes in the worst way. That outside guy (30-something) completely blew it. However, he was right where he needed to be on the next kickoff. After 10 kickoffs, I guess I can forgive one bad one...not that bad...but one missed assignment in a game like this I can understand.

Not excusing the poor kick coverage, but wasn't there a bunch of backups on that kickoff?

I'm sure. I didn't check jersey numbers, but at that point we had just scored to go up by like 60...I'm sure they were all 3rd string kick return guys, which means 5th string guys. Was basically just saying, this is nothing to be concerned about and I'm sure Houston had those guys watch this tape about 20 times. It wasn't bad tackling (well, other than the kicker), it was simply a blown lane that was fixed by the next kickoff.
