Our D made GW look pretty bad. They were missing one of their starting bigs.

GW is a very young team and I would expect our experience defensively would create problems for them. I wonder if we scored over 65.

Our experience on D? We've been hearing all Summer how our D should be taking a huge step back after having to replace our two best defenders. At least four of our rotational players are very, very inexperienced.

Jones flat out getting it done with recruiting. From what I saw Friday, he’s getting it done with adapting to his players.

That's really the key. Play the style that best fits what you have to work with.

When you have Brandon, BJ, Caver, Carver, Vassor, Porter, Haynes, and Pickney that is a bulk of the experience on defense. I would say that is not inexperienced. So that would essentially leave 1 spot at the most that would be filled by non game experienced player.

Are there any notes from the scrimmage?

We won by 20ish. I think the score was something like 78-56. Any concern about Porter's injury from Friday should be forgotten. He played and played well. I'm going to try to track down more stats, if I can.

I think the practice facility is paying off in recruiting already. Football needs to catch up, we need an indoor practice facility!

Towson beat Bucknell. Game 1 is going to be a battle. Named as a sleeper to win the CAA. Hopefully we pack the Ted because we will need it.

You realize most of the recruits for the past two seasons are people the staff have been recruiting for years. The established relationships and availability of playing time had more to do with commitments than a building.

Of course, but that is every recruit. The style of recruiting has not changed, they recruit all the kids for a long time and some commit to ODU. But now that there is a brand new building in place, its more tangible for the recruits. Facilities make all the difference. That's why every P5 program has crazy facilities that most of the time are unnecessarily lavish. But they do it because they might get some better recruits. It is no coincidence that the year the practice facility opens up, its the best recruiting year we have had in a while. If you dont believe that you are fooling yourself.

Nope. Last year's class was the first JJ and staff had a chance to develop relationships from early on in the player's high school career. Before that, they were contacting guys who were juniors and seniors already.
